‘Bad Santa 2’ Movie Update: Mark Waters To Helm The Project

The second part of the 2003 released movie titled “Bad Santa” by Terry Zwigoff is coming and its official now as “Mean Girls” director Mark Waters has been signed by Broad Green Pictures and Miramax to direct it. Read On!

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the actor, who was keen to act in the second part of the movie since the release of the first part, Billy Bob Thornton has also signed the deal of joining the star cast with Tony Cox and Brett Kelly. For script writing portion, names of Johnny Rosenthal, “Entourage” fame Doug Ellin and “If I Stay” fame Shauna Cross have been finalized by the makers.

The makers, who are currently in search of a female star, revealed that the shooting for the sequel of the black comedy movie will start from January 2016 and it was decided that it will be released by the end of the same year only.

The first part, which was called a Christmas criminal black comedy, had successfully collected more than $76 million worldwide and over $60 million at domestic front. It is expected that the sequel will perform much better at the box office as the team has interesting ideas related to the storyline.

If we talk about Mark Waters direction, he is well-known for movies like “Freaky Friday” (2003), “Just Like Heaven” (2005), “Ghosts of Girlfriends Past” (2009), “Vampire Academy” (2014) and many more. By choosing him as the helmer, the makers are trying to bring a different yet strong effect to the movie and it seems that they will be successful in their approach.

Well, as the makers have already finalized first month of the next year as the beginning month for the shoot of the “Bad Santa 2,” there is not much time left for Mark Waters to prepare for the same. So, let us wish him and the makers all the very best for their upcoming project and also keep our fingers crossed for getting another quirky comedy.
