All eyes are set on what Britain has to offer yet again to the music industry. This year, the Barclaycard Mercury Prize announced that this year’s nominees include Jungle, East India Youth and Young Fathers. Keep reading on to learn more about the British music extravaganza.
The Mercury Prize previously called the Mercury Music Prize and presently known as the Barclaycard Mercury Prize for sponsorship basis. The annual music prize honors the best British album of the past year as chosen by a panel of British music critics and industry figures. It was established in 1992 by the British Phonographic Industry and British Association of Record Dealers as an alternative to the Brit Awards.
