For the very first time, the “Bates Motel” will not be using a time jump in their fourth season; instead they will be addressing the previous season’s cliffhangers. Read on for more details.
Viewers of A&E Entertainment saw the drama and suspense that happened in the lives of Norma Bates (Vera Farmiga) and her son Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) in the previous season of “Bates Motel.” A lot of unexpected revelations and challenges happened in the show’s third season and now, in its season 4, the fans of the mind-boggling series will witness more complications in the relationship between the mother and son.
According to the original series executive producer Kerry Ehrin’s interview with TVLine, the previous season left the audience with a lot of cliffhangers. Nicole Peltz’ character as Bradley Martin had just been killed. Meanwhile, Norman thinks his mother did it, but the actual Norma has no idea where her son is. Emma played by Olivia Cooke, on the other hand, finally going in for a lung transplant. These are some of the series cliffhangers that made the audience wonder what will happen in the next season.
Ehrin also added that since there are a lot of cliffhangers and threads that the team wanted to up immediately there will be no time jump in “Bates Motel” Season 4.
This means that A&E will now show how Norman become a full-fledged psychopath. Fans will witness Highmore’s character turn into the most frightening killer in history and how their family’s Bates Motel become the well-know killing site.
We already saw Norman imitates his mother’s full persona. It was when he talked to Dylan and when he killed Bradley. In the next season, another mother imitation may happen since his character is now becoming more intense.
According to Ehrin’s interview with Entertainment Weekly, she and co-producer Carlton Cuse were interested in exploring the possibility of Norma finding a way to help and cure Norman’s disturbing condition. The executive producer believes that Norma is starting to become stronger than before. In return, she would really want to look for a possible cure for her son despite their current situation where they have no extra money to spend for Norman’s expensive treatments. She is more than willing to do everything to make Norman become a normal teenage boy.
In addition to this, Ehrin also said that though this kind of situation is hard for Norman to absorb. This will be harder for Norma herself since her son is what she only have in this world.
Meanwhile, fans would like to know if, in the next season, Norma will finally give in to her feelings for Sheriff Romero. It seemed to have gotten more serious and intense last season 3.
“Bates Motel” Season 4 will begin its shoot by the end of the year, and the Season 4 will be released sometime in 2016.
