Ben Affleck’s solo movie, The Batman saw a lot of ups and downs in the last few months. After some big changes were made to the movie, the studio affirmed that they will be going ahead with it.

Though no information about the movie’s script or release date has been confirmed yet, an update about Affleck might be hinting at something.

Ben Affleck training for The Batman

Screen Rant reported that after The Batman faced a lot of delays, an update about Affleck might just come as good news. According to the outlet, the Justice League star has begun training for the solo movie.

The outlet quoted Umberto Gonzalez who stated that Affleck is getting in shape so that he can put on the Bat-suit again. As far as rumors of him leaving the movie are concerned, those have been proven to be untrue.

The outlet also stated that with the lead star already getting in shape for the role, the movie could start shooting soon. When he was first cast in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, he got beefed up for the role and as a result, his Batman looked more muscular than Superman himself.

Since his version of Batman uses more of his brute strength to fight crime in DCEU, that could be a reason for the actor to beef up again. He looks a bit leaner in Justice League trailer however he might be seen in a better shape in the solo movie.

Josh Gad’s tweet

Right around the time, Affleck has started training for The Batman, Frozen star Josh Gad also has hinted his participation in the movie. He raised many eyebrows when he tweeted a picture of Batman’s nemesis Penguin on his Twitter account.

The tweet does not have any caption, it just has a picture of the supervillain and it seems to have been taken from a comic book’s page.

Independent reported this update and speculated that the solo movie might be moving toward production. However, the outlet added that Gad tweeting the picture of the supervillain could be connected to other DC movie.

Gotham City Sirens, Batgirl and Nightwing are the other DC movies that have been lined up. Since they are all connected to the Batman-verse, Penguin could show up in any one of these movies.

Gad’s role in Frozen 2

While it has not been confirmed whether Gad will be seen as Penguin or not, The Telegraph did mention that his character Olaf will be back in Frozen 2.

Frozen 2 is scheduled to release in 2019 and with Gad voicing the summer-loving snowman, it will be seen if that role gets affected because of The Batman. If Gad is indeed a part of The Batman, and if the movie gets delayed once more, he might have to juggle between the two roles.

Also because of the delay, his role in Frozen 2 could get affected. A report did mention that DC is looking to film another movie alongside Aquaman this year. If The Batman is that movie then Gad will have no problem playing the supervillain in it.

Rest of the cast

As far as rest of the cast is concerned, Joe Manganiello was confirmed to be playing Deathstroke a while back. Also Jeremy Irons and J.K. Simmons were confirmed to be reprising their roles as Alfred and Commissioner Gordon respectively.

Another previous report also stated that Manganiello has been practicing his sword skills and has been researching for his role by reading comic books.

An official plot has not been revealed yet but reports have maintained that Batman will be going up against Deathstroke in the solo movie. There are also chances that other villains will be a part of the solo movie. With Matt Reaves now directing the movie, it will be interesting to see which direction does the solo movie go.

Release date

There is no official release date known for The Batman but rumors are speculating that it could release next year.
