Given the excitement that is surrounding the movie, fans are bound to get impatient and can’t wait to see the movie in theaters. But as they say that no great thing is suddenly created, “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” was also postponed for some reason by the bosses at Warner Bros.
According to Venture Capital Post, there are still many who have been questioning WB’s decision to move the movie’s release date to Spring 2016 since it is undoubtedly one of their most important films. These questions are coming in especially after the studio’s movies like “The Man from U.N.C.L.E,” “Vacation” and “Magic Mike XXL” failed to deliver at the box office whereas only “Mad Max: Fury Road” and “San Andreas” was able to perform well.
It is being said that WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara revealed in an interview that he had to make tough choices this year so that it would make Zack Snyder’s movie better and further help in the betterment of DC Extended Universe that now has a decent line up of movies planned until 2020 at least. The Executive also added that after having watched the movie multiple times, he is even more sure that the decision of shifting the movie to next year was a good one as it is important for the studio to get a proper foundation for DC.
On the marketing front, the strategy surely has benefited Warner Bros. a lot since the amount of curiosity and excitement that is going around “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” and “Suicide Squad,” right now, is just spectacular. The recently concluded San Diego Comic Con was a proof of the same. Loyal DC fans have also been posting about the movies on social media a lot and have been teasing how the DC Extended Universe will prove to be a threat to Marvel Cinematic Universe in near future.
According to Forbes, the success of one mega blockbuster like “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” can easily kick-start a franchise and is much better than the success of a dozen small scale movies. How effective this strategy of WB is will only be seen when “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” will release on March 25th next year.
