Battle Creek Recap: Heirlooms

Battle Creek” Episode 4 “Heirlooms” aired on Sunday, Mar. 22, 2015, at 10:00 p.m. on CBS. The episode kicks off with a waitress found dead at her own apartment. Read on to know why Russ Agnew is so upset.

Russ cannot handle the fact that Milt Chamberlain was informed earlier than him. Because of that, he gets more motivated in finding out why Milt was assigned to Battle Creek despite his metropolitan skills and class.

To continue the investigation, Milt decides to add a trained sniffer dog to the team. It was after it was revealed that the killer brought his dog during the crime. Russ finds it offensive because the department already has a dog. It is decided that a bet must be made on which dog can find the suspect’s dog first. However, Russ is the one who finds the murderer’s dog. Still, credits go to Cookie (he insisted).

As the investigation unfolds, the dog is not the killer’s property. It is the pet of the victim’s son named Max. Turns out, Max has witnessed his mother’s murder but refused to say anything. Although, he admits that different men visited his mother’s home. Slowly, it is revealed that the waitress was also a callgirl.

The investigators learn that their top suspect died of heart attack before the victim’s death. That man is considered a millionaire. Consecutive deaths of a rich guy and a sex worker. Then, the case just gets more complicated. Not only that, the millionaire died of natural causes.

After a crucial attempt to connect the dots, the investigators think the millionaire was Max’s father. Finally, they find out that Max became one of his legitimate children to inherit some of his assets. It is time for them to know if the guy’s other children were okay with it.

The investigators are able to witness the siblings burning their garments at the fireplace. They conclude that the man’s older children are the suspects. Call the suspects fools because their crime leads to Max’s inheritance worth $42 million.

Milt and Russ clearly have different opinions most of the time.  Milt is being optimistic about Max learning something valuable from his half-siblings’ greed. Russ insists that he worries about Max’s future being a rich heir. Russ thinks Max might turn into an evil man because of money. He believes that Milt said those positive things due to hypocrisy.
