Beetlejuice’s decades awaited and most rumored sequel is getting a definite fruition. Director Tim Burton and screenwriter Seth Grahame Smith, together have come up with a new script and the supernatural comedy might start filming before 2015 ends.
Winona Ryder, 43, who played Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice recently turned up on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’ to promote her new HBO series, ‘Show Me A Hero’ where she confirmed Beetlejuice 2 is really happening.
“Um, I think I can confirm it, because Tim Burton did this interview — like, it was very hush hush, top secret … ” – said Ryder.
The 1988 classics, involves a family haunted in their new house by a ghost called Betelgeuse –in which the daughter’s role is played by Ryder when she was just 17. The classic later went on to spawn an animated TV series directed by Burton.
Meanwhile, talking to MTV News, Burton confirmed Beetlejuice 2 won’t happen without Michael Keaton reprising as ‘The Ghost with the Most’; and also assured Ryder would be back as Lydia Deetz, even if not the other casts. The recent confirmation makes a trio of people involved in the upcoming sequel.
Even after twenty-seven years the original movie still has a committed fanbase, and thus a lot seems to be in favor of Beetlejuice 2, which is getting an official green-light in the foreseeable future.
