The film industry has produced awesome movies, and some of it are so epic viewers beg for a second and even a third installment. Of all the famous and best trilogies in the history of cinema, 10 of the best were listed below.

  1. The “Jason Bourne” Trilogy (“The Bourne Identity”, “The Bourne Supremacy” and “The Bourne Ultimatum”)

Former CIA assassin Jason Bourne, played by Matt Damon, amazed the viewers with action-packed scenes based on Robert Ludlum’s book series. Peter Greengrass directed “Supremacy” and “Ultimatum,” while Doug Liman took over “Identity.” With the success of the “Bourne” trilogy, another Bourne installment was set to be released in 2016.

  1. “The Godfather” Trilogy (“The Godfather”, “The Godfather: Part II and “The Godfather: Part III)

Considered as one of the best classic films of all time, the trilogy follows the career and life story of Vito Corleone, played by Marlon Brando (“The Godfather”) and Robert De Niro (“The Godfather Part II”). “The Godfather saga” was based on a book written by Mario Puzo. Director Francis Ford Coppola and the cast presented the trilogy magnificently, and it has since become the greatest mobster movie ever made.

  1. The “Matrix” Trilogy (“The Matrix,” “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions”)

This dystopian sci-fi trilogy created and directed by Lana and Andy Wachowski opened the door to “bullet time” visual effect. The “Matrix’s” visual effects as well as the philosophical and religious references made it to the 13th spot on the Guardian’s  Best Sci-fi Movie of All Time list.

  1. “Back to the Future” Trilogy (Back to the Future I-III)

The franchise follows the time travel adventures of Marty Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) and Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) with the DeLorean as their time machine. Robert Zemeckis directed all three installments.

  1. The “Mad Max” Trilogy (“Mad Max,” “The Road Warrior” and “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”)

This dystopian classic was directed by George Miller and stars Mel Gibson as Max, a Main Force Patrol officer who fought the gang who murdered his family. The newest installment, “Mad Max: Fury Road,” was set to hit the screen on May 15, 2015. Find more about the new Mad Max film here.

  1. “The Dark Knight” Trilogy (“Batman Begins,” “The Dark Knight” and “The Dark Knight Rises”)

This “Batman” reboot was directed by Christopher Nolan and stars Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Michael Caine, Tom Hardy and the late Heath Ledger. “The Dark Knight” trilogy shows us the different side of Bruce Wayne. 4. The “Toy Story” Trilogy (“Toy Story,” “Toy Story 2” and “Toy Story 3”)

Form the story line to the animation and characters, “Toy Story” is one of the best and highest-grossing animated franchises Disney has produced. Another installment, “Toy Story 4,” was set to open in theaters on 2017.

  1. The “Dollars” or “Man with No Name” Trilogy (“A Fistful of Dollars,” “For a Few Dollars More” and “The Good, the Bad & the Ugly”)

If you want your Western film to be based on a samurai flick and directed by an Italian, Sergio Leone, this trilogy is for you. This unusual mixture and Clint Eastwood’s amazing portrayal made it irresistible to Western film fans.

  1. The Original “Star Wars Trilogy” or“Star Wars OT”(“Star Wars: A New Hope,” “Empire Strikes Back” and Return of the Jedi”)

This successful space opera created by George Lucas had the fans saying “May the force be with you” a lot of times just because they feel awesome saying it. Moreover, characters like Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Master Yoda, Luke Skywalker and Chewbecca became sci-fi icons.   1. “Lord of the Rings” Trilogy (“Fellowship of the Ring,” “Two Towers” and “Return of the King”)

The trilogy was directed Peter Jackson and stars Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Sean Astin and John Rhys-Davies. The series was based on J. R. R. Tolkien’s book. It follows the quest of Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), a citizen of Middle-Earth and his quest to destroy the One Ring along with its master, Dark Lord Sauron. The trilogy’s prequel, “The Hobbit,” has gained almost the same “LOTR” success after hitting the screen.
