At the Television Critics Association Event, writer and director Vince Gilligan discussed the details about the show.

“It’s like re-inventing the wheel, but sometimes you can re-invent the wheel to a fault. It’s important to us that this not look like a carbon copy of ‘Breaking Bad.’ We’re doing our damndest to make it as different as possible,” said Gilligan in the Toronto Sun report.

With what we know about prequels, Gilligan is focused to set it straight. We also found out that “Better Call Saul” will be set in the year 2002, but viewers can expect some jumping around in time a bit.

To make things even better, the “Breaking Bad” prequel has already started shooting, and Gilligan took full responsibility on the show’s delay, which was originallyset to air in 2014 but was later on moved to 2015. He admitted that he could have met the deadline, but he was “slow as mud” as a writer, and he has always been like that.

A lot of fans are also wondering if they would see some “Breaking Bad” characters on the show. This is not entirely ruled out because it is a possibility, but the team of is determined to make this show its own show, which means that it is not the show to bring back fans’ favorite characters in.
