Beverly Johnson has revealed more details about the time she was allegedly drugged by Bill Cosby. Read on for more details.
Johnson was recently honored by Linda’s Voice which is a charity aimed at helping women who suffer abuse. At Linda’s Voice BBQ and Bikini Benefit, she cited the pertinence of raising awareness against violence.
Johnson was the first ever African-American model to cover Vogue. In 2014, she came out to Vanity Fair to reveal how Cosby drugged her during the 80s. Apparently she used to meet Cosby often as they were in talks to get her a role on “The Cosby Show.”
It was during one such visit that Johnson says Cosby drugged her. He made her a cappuccino and insisted her to have it. Johnson says she had lived through the 70s and, therefore, experimented with drugs, so she was certain the coffee was laced.
According to Fox News, after Johnson’s claims, nearly 50 women came out and made their own allegations against Cosby for drugging or sexually assaulting them, or even both. Cosby has admitted on using Quaalude with women he wanted to have sex with in a 2005 deposition which was unsealed last month. Although he says in the deposition that the sex was consensual.
On Oct. 9, 2015, Cosby will see a deposition for a lawsuit which is set to affect him most severely. It is by a woman who has accused Cosby of sexually abusing her at the Playboy Mansion when she was only 15.
“I think that the Cosby situation is a lightning rod for this conversation we are having,” Johnson said. “It is a lightning rod so that Linda’s Voice, this amazing charity, can help so many women find their voice.”
Johnson added that she’s happy that women are coming out against him and Cosby is ready to face justice and that she wants domestic violence and violence against women to end.
