Superstar Beyonce was reportedly joining the cast of “The Big Short,” a movie which already has an impressive list of actors in the cast — Christian Bale, Brad Pitt and Ryan Gosling. But according to the studio producing the film, there’s no truth to this at all.
It all started when Michael Lewis, the author of “The Big Short” novel from which the movie is based, appeared as guest on “CBS This Morning” last March 23 to talk about his other work, “Flash Boys.”
Lewis apparently casually mentioned that filming for “The Big Short” will begin this week in New Orleans and he rounded up the cast to include Bale, Pitt, Gosling, roughly the big names that were reported in the press several months ago. He also said that the movie has snagged Oscar-nominated actor Steve Carell, before finally saying he also thinks Beyonce is in the film, too.
You can watch the video of the interview below, where Lewis mentions Beyonce at the 4:40 mark.
Following this, Gossip Cop quickly reported that Paramount Pictures, through a representative, denied that the multi-awarded singer is part of the movie and it may work out for the better for her anyway. The plot of the film seems to be without any significant female leads, something that Beyonce’s fans may be watching out for. “The Big Short’s” story tackles the housing financial crisis of 2007.
Meanwhile, Beyonce has not done any films since “Obsessed,” a drama that was released in theaters in 2009. She played the wife of Idris Elba who was being seduced by a character played by Ali Larter.
Despite getting more recognition for her work in music, Beyonce did dabble into several other films in the last decade, such as “Dreamgirls,” “Austin Powers,” “Cadillac Records” and “The Pink Panther.” She also lent her voice to the animated move “Epic” in 2013.
These days, Beyonce is reportedly keeping her schedule busy working on a collaboration with fashion powerhouse Guiseppe Zanotti. According to Vogue Magazine, the two have worked together on a shoe design that should be out in a matter of weeks. As a style icon, this project should fit into Beyonce’s profile nicely.
