Beyonce has an amazing career as an artist. She has been the recipient of praise and citation because of her successful albums. But after the Grammy Awards 2017 winners have been proclaimed, she did not win.

Legendary guitarist Carlos Santana said that she did not win because she is “not a singer!” If Beyonce is not a singer as per Santana’s statement, then what is she? The 10-time Grammy winner said that Adele won because she can sing, reports Daily News. He later explained his statement.

The Mexican-American guitarist shared his thoughts on the recent event. He said, “With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, she is very beautiful to look at and it’s more like modeling kind of music — music to model a dress — she’s not a singer, singer, with all respect to her.” Unlike the pregnant singer, Adele does not need to bring all the backup dancers and props.

When she received the award, Adele snapped her Album of the Year trophy into two. It signifies that she wants to share the victory with Jay Z’s wife. She believes her Lemonade should have won. Beyonce was seen crying while Adele was praising her and her album.

Beyonce Was Not Put Down By Carlos Santana

After Queen Bey’s fans condemned the guitarist, he turned to social media to retract his statement. His apology came after a storm of flak was hurled towards him from infuriated fans. Check out his statement below.

“My intent was to congratulate Adele on her amazing night at the Grammys,” Santana explained on Facebook. “My comment about Beyonce was regretfully taken out of context. I have the utmost respect for her as an artist and a person. She deserves all the accolades that come her way. I wish her and her family all the best.”

On Australian Associated Press, Santana said that the Lemonade singer relies on her theatrical performance with her team. It possibly “penalized” her in the eyes of the 14,000 Academy members that voted for Adele’s 25. She performed Love Drought and Sandcastles with her team of dancers.

Neil Portnow of the Recording Academy defended their choice for Adele’s win. He said that the voting process was done not by an entity but a body of people voting. It is difficult to be objective in something that is subjective which is what art and music are about.

On the other hand, things were not good for Santana’s namesake who looks like a teenager. His Instagram got stung by lots of bee emojis from the singer’s fans. The real musician has no Instagram account, lucky for him. But, he apologized for his statement about Beyonce a day after.
