“The Hook-Up Reverberation” opened with the boys having a conversation in the cafeteria. Sheldon (Jim Parsons) revealed to Raj (Kunal Nayyar) that a study in Oxford shows that when a guy is in a relationship, he loses two of his close friends. Raj thought that it was strange.
Howard (Simon Helberg) was complaining to the gang that his mother (voice of Carol Ann Susi) had a cable installed for Stuart (Kevin Sussman), with seven HBOs. Meanwhile, Raj then brought Emily (Laura Spencer) to meet them. When he introduced Emily to Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting), Penny felt that Emily does not like her. Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) then suggested that since Emily is a doctor, a dermatologist, Penny can practice her demo with her. When Penny showed up in her clinic, it was noticeable that Emily was not that welcoming. Penny confronted her, and Emily answered honestly that she did not like Penny because Raj told her that she hooked up with him.
While in the comic book store, the boys came up with an idea to help Stuart put up his store, with them as co-owners. They agreed that their target market will be children. But children could not go to the comic book store on their own. The idea was to get them into a van, lure them with candies and bring them to the store. Brilliant, guys. Brilliant. Sheldon, Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Howard asked their respective partners regarding the comic book store plan. Howard got a no from Bernadette, Leonard got a positive answer from Penny, while Sheldon emphasized to Amy (Mayim Bialik) — long story short — that if her answer would not be in his favor, it would have an effect on their relationship, leaving Amy with a positive response too.
Emily and Raj to Penny’s place to clear things out. When the couple left, it was showed that Emily and Penny still hate each other.
