The audience has always hummed, crooned, and tapped feet while watching the reality television competition “Dancing With the Stars.” But the dance performance given by Bindi Irwin on Monday night left audience struggling with tears and fish their pockets and purses for some tissues. Irwin says her emotional dance performance was a tribute to her late father Steve Irvin. Read on.
Irwin’s father Steve Irvin was a crocodile hunter and lost his life in a stingray attack. Before she and her partner, Derek Hough hit the dance floor, a touching video was also broadcasted. In the video, she was heard saying, “What shaped me the most would probably be when my dad passed away. It’s been nine years and I’ve never really dwelled on that point.” In the video, she said that she was ready to narrate her tale. The audience didn’t know then that the performance they would watch on stage in next few minutes would be even more emotional.
The Monday night audience also comprised of Irwin’s mother and brother. Irwin swayed and danced to the lyrics of “Every Breath You Take” by Aaron Krause, and the audience were just left spell-bound. Her performance also had a mesmerizing impact on the judges and they were delighted to give her 28 out of 30. Bruno Tonioli’s heart went out to the performance too and he awarded the girl the 10 out of 10.
“He was dancing with you every step of the way. He is proud of you, Australia and the world is proud of you – and so am I.” Tonioli said.
Irwin had also chosen to perform on crocodile rock to acknowledge her father in the earlier series. The performance was also loved by the audience. Monday night Irwin could not contain herself and shed some tears while saying that she danced for her family and people back home but especially for her late father.
