“Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 9 “Colored Commentary” will air on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC. The show is back after a brief hiatus, and in the upcoming episode, Dre will invoke “Team Johnson” on his family. It will not be well-received. Before we get into the details, let’s do a quick refresher to what happened previously.
In “Oedipal Triangle” (air date Nov. 19, 2014), Dre (Anthony Anderson) was quite excited by his mom’s visit. But Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) was less than enthusiastic about it. She was always being undermined by Dre’s mother, Ruby, and this visit was no different.
When Bow found Dre napping beside his mother on the guest bed, while ditching her as she was waiting for him for some couple time on the tub, things got really weird. Someone at work suggested to Dre that he should treat both special women in his life as equals, which worked for a while. Until Ruby started undermining Bow again. This time it concerned a matter with one of her kids.
Dre was put in a really tight spot because Ruby and Bow were always clashing, until his eldest daughter Zoey (Yara Shahidi) shared a few words of insight for her Dad. She said that he had to pick a number one girl because that’s how the universe works, especially with women.
So Dre made it clear to his mother that while she's still a very important figure in his life, Bow will always be his number one. It was forever.
In another storyline, Zoey was trying to help her brother land a date, and she managed to pair him up with the sexiest girl in school. However, the girl only used Junior (Marcus Scribner) for this video project she planned on submitting to a TV show.
Spoiler Alert: “Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 9 “Colored Commentary” will air on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
In this episode, Dre wants his family to connect and bond more, and so he came up with Team Johnson, which would have each of them supporting each other or having each other’s back when they need it. But Dre would be the first to fall short from this, disappointing his wife Bow, who always expects a lot from him.
As they try to encourage the kids to be on board the “team,” the older ones, Zoey and Junior, did not find this appealing. The two will be tasked to babysit their twin siblings, but things don’t always go as planned.
The series will also feature guest stars Peter MacKenzie as Mr. Stevens, Mandy Levin as Sydney Martin, Brandon Gibson as Adam, Martin Garcia as museum honcho, Kimberley Crossman as Tawny, Jeff Meacham as Josh, Ken Jenkins as the announcer Bernie, Christopher Carroll as the butler Winston and Michael Nanfria as Kevin.
The episode is written by Yvette Lee Bowser, with Ken Whittingham as the director.
