“Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 11 “Law of Attraction” airs on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC. The series is back from its holiday break, and Pops is back too. But guess who’s still in town? Dre’s mom! But before we get into the details, here’s a quick recap on what happened last time on the show.
In “Black Santa/White Christmas” (air date: Dec. 10, 2014), Dre (Anthony Anderson) wanted to become the first black Santa Claus at work, and he made sure that this would happen. He discredited Angelica (guest star Ana Ortiz), who was originally picked to play Santa, following the death of Fred, who has been the office’s Santa for many years. The choice of picking out a woman was, by the way, sort of a suggestion from Dre, who pointed out to his boss that a diversified pick would be better. But he was actually alluding to himself as the choice.
Now that he’s the Santa, Dre was very excited. But on the night of the party, he didn’t have any toys for the children. Angelica purposely forgot to tell him that it was the Santa’s role to prepare this. Christmas was almost ruined, but with Dre’s quick thinking and with his kids help, they were able to save the night and delivered the presents to the children.
Meanwhile, Ruby (guest star Jenifer Lewis) was in town for the holidays, and the kids were eager to have Christmas dinner prepared by their grandmother. But Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) decided to take over the preparations from Ruby. She let him have it, but Bow realized that it was actually not easy. How did Ruby manage this? Turned out, she didn’t prepare Christmas dinner all by herself. She ordered this from a Mexican caterer and only pretended to be the one doing the cooking.
Spoiler Alert: “Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 11 “Law of Attraction” airs on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
In this episode, Dre’s machismo will be challenged by his wife Rainbow. She’ll find herself being accosted in public by another man, and Dre will hardly do anything. Pops (guest star Laurence Fishburne), however, saves Dre’s face, which in turn ignites his ex-wife Ruby’s interest on him. The result? The two will rekindle their love affair. Will this be for keeps? How will Dre react when he finds his parents back together?
Meanwhile, the older kids will be cast in a school play. However, things will become awkward for Junior (Marcus Scribner) as he is selected to play the part of Romeo in “Romeo and Juliet,” and it’s all because his eldest sister Zoey (Yara Shahidi) will be playing Juliet. How’s that gonna work out?
Also appearing in this episode are guest stars Peter Mackenzie as Mr. Stevens, Jeff Meacham as Josh, Charlie Telphy as Deon Cole, Edi Patterson as Laura, Lee Simpson as Aggro guy and Arianna Jaffier as little girl.
The episode is written by Corey Nickerson, with Michael Schultz as director.
