“Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 12 “Martin Luther Skiing Day” will air on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC. The family goes on its annual skiing holiday, and Dre uses this time to teach his kids about intolerance. Before we get into the details, here’s a quick recap of the last episode.
In “Law of Attraction” (air date: Jan. 7, 2015), Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross) was rudely cutoff by this man at the valet parking line. However, Dre (Anthony Anderson) thought it would be pointless to argue with him. They were with the whole family, including Pops (Laurence Fishburne) and Ruby (Jenifer Lewis), who, as divorcees, were not getting along. But it was Pops who confronted the rude man, which made Ruby see her ex-husband in a different light. Impressed by his manliness, she reconnected with him again.
Dre was used to his parents by now. He knew that as passionately as they loved each other before, they also passionately hated each other. Dre only hoped that his parents won’t give their grandchildren the wrong idea about getting back together, because he knew it will never happen. They’re talking about having a wedding again, for goodness sake!
Meanwhile, Bow was a bit miffed that Dre didn’t step up for her at the valet parking line. Her husband sensed that she was turned off by this. Bow didn’t want to admit it. It seemed shallow to still expect her man to be all macho. It was even when Ruby said that this has been the case since pre-historic times.
But Bow getting turned off by her husband all changed when Dre manned up to his own father. He also demanded that he and Ruby stop this nonsense about getting back together, as it will only lead to disappointments, and they knew that. Dre also discussed Bow’s issues with her, making it clear that he will always protect his family from real threats. But he’s got to be decisive about fighting back, as he’s got so much to lose now.
Spoiler Alert: “Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 12 “Martin Luther Skiing Day” will air on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
It’s Martin Luther King Day, and in the Johnson household, the family celebrates this special holiday by going away for its annual ski trip. Dre thinks that maybe this is the time to teach the kids about the significance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in their heritage, so he makes the trip more interesting by inundating different facts about MLK.
Arriving at the ski lodge, Dre prepares an elaborate, but unique process of preparing his eldest son on what the real world is like. He teaches Junior about intolerance, but will he also end up learning something on this trip?
This episode will also feature Jeff Meacham as Josh, Peter Mackenzie as Mr. Stevens, Deon Cole as Charlie Telphy and Nick Carson as Zach.
“Martin Luther Skiing Day” is directed by Stuart McDonald, with Lindsey Shockley as the episode’s writer.
