“Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 3 “The Nod” will air on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC. Do you know what “the nod” is? No? Andre Jr. does not know this either, and this will bother his father. Read on for the details to this upcoming episode. But before that, let’s backtrack a little to last week’s story.
In “The Talk” (air date: Oct. 1, 2014), Dre (Anthony Edwards) decided to have the sex talk with Junior (Marcus Scribner), as he walked in on him masturbating in his room. Being 13 years old, his hormones have already kicked in, but Dre became disappointed when he found out that Junior already had “the talk” with his mother. Still, he was determined to engage his son to it because it’s different coming from a guy’s perspective.
Eventually though, Dre regretted initiating the talk with his son because as days went on, the boy set no boundaries with the oversharing. Junior told him every little bit of concern that most young men have. Dre realized that it’s okay for Junior to discuss about everyday stuff with his mother, but he will just be there for the bigger, serious stuff.
Meanwhile, Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross) had the opposite problem with their eldest daughter Zoe (Yara Shahidi), who took a while to open up to her. When she finally did, Bow was more focused on the fact that Zoe went to her to confide, that she didn’t really listen to what Zoe’s problems were. So she missed being a real confidante to her daughter. Good thing Pops (Laurence Fishburne) was there to lend a sympathetic ear.
Spoiler Alert: “Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 3 “The Nod” airs on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2014, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
As posted on sTVplus, the upcoming episode will have Dre re-orienting his son to black culture. Andre Jr. does not know what “the nod” is, which is something every black person should be aware of. So in order to let his son know about this, Dre thought that Junior needs to expand and hang out with other black kids. Which group of kids would this be?
Meanwhile, Rainbow will decide to bring her youngest daughter Diane (Marsai Martin) to work, in the hopes of influencing her to choosing the same path as a doctor. But it’s the wrong day to show the child what mom actually does at the hospital, as Bow will be having of the worst day ever at work.
The episode is written by series creator Kenya Barris and directed by James Griffiths. It will have Dean Cole, David L. King and Christopher Griffin as guest stars.
