“Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 7 “The Gift of Hunger” will air on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC. Dre teaches his kids a lesson about entitlement and hardwork. Find out what will happen to this episode in the details below. But first, here's a quick recap of what happened to the show in the previous episode.
In “The Prank King” (air date: Oct. 31, 2014) Dre (Anthony Anderson) was looking forward to doing their usual Halloween traditions. But when his eldest daughter Zoey (Yara Shahidi) said that she will not be joining in the pranks this year, Dre was crushed. Zoey inherited his prank gene and to have her not participate was going to dampen what they usually do each year.
To convince her, Dre thought that pulling a prank on Zoey’s favorite victim, her brother Junior (Marcus Scribner), would encourage her to reconsider. But Zoey thought that pranks are lame and childish. Moreover, she declared she will not be wearing the family theme costume with the rest of them this year.
After having had enough of the pranks, Marcus also declared he won’t be joining in this year’s celebration, including the wearing of the Jackson 5 costume. The younger kids, meanwhile, decided to forego with Halloween trick or treating because of a diabetes scare at school.
What was happening to his children? Why have their love for Halloween diminished when it was their favorite time of the year as a family?
Turned out, this was all an elaborate prank by Dre’s wife, Bow (Tracee Ellis Ross), who thought that she could outsmart the Prank King. She really wanted to beat her husband this year! But Dre was actually on it from the beginning, thanks to all the cameras installed around the house and turned the situation around to his favor. The Prank King was still hard to beat!
Spoiler Alert: “Black-ish” Season 1 Episode 7 “The Gift of Hunger” will air on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
Have the Johnson children become too spoiled? Their father thought that the kids should get a dose of reality check when, visiting one of Dre’s childhood favorite restaurant in this episode, his children collectively turned up their noses. They didn’t like the place, and they didn’t like the food. So, Dre will insist that the older kids get jobs to see what it’s like to accomplish something hard-earned.
Zoey and Junior will start working in their dad’s office. Only, Dre will not be able to stop meddling and controlling his kids at work. Who will be the first to give up and learn their lesson?
Meanwhile, the younger children, Jack and Diane, will realize that they should also be saving money by scrimping. But they will probably go too far with living frugally when the neighbors will think that the Johnsons have fallen on hard times.
The series will have guest stars: Jeff Meacham as Josh, Peter MacKenzie as Mr. Stevens, Deon Cole as Charlie Telphy, Nicole Sullivan as Janine and David Goldman as Bruce.
