Meanwhile, FBI Assistant Director Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) is placed in a difficult position by The Cabal. Read on to learn more about this episode.
The episode began with two Chinese men who robbed a grave and later on sold the corpse to a client.
Meanwhile, FBI Special Agent Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone) asked her ex-husband, Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold), to help her discover who the woman in the picture she had found of her as a child in Raymond “Red” Reddington’s (James Spader) secret apartment was. Tom then recognized that the woman was wearing a ring with a Russian inspection stamp. He recognized it as his former employer, Berlin, had worn a similar ring.
Meanwhile, in an old house, Red informed Leonard Caul (Ned Van Zandt) that they needed to get to Kenneth Jasper (James A. Stevens), the right hand man of The Director (David Strathairn), as he knew that The Cabal’s plans were now being advanced. He then told Liz to investigate the Chinese smuggler, who smuggled repatriated Chinese corpses back to the motherland, as he had smuggled several weapons on two separate occasions for two events that were orchestrated by The Cabal. Red then told Liz that by letting The Director know that she knew what the Fulcrum contained, she had exposed herself as an enemy and a target.
Back at the Task Force, they discovered that this smuggler had robbed the graves of seven other women as well. Aram Mojtabai (Amir Arison) then tracked down the latest corpse, the corpse of Marjorie Lin, to a flight that was going to leave that day. Liz then told them that she would catch up with them as Tom had found someone connected to Berlin who might know who the woman was.
At the airport, FBI Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff) and Mossad Agent Samar Navabi (Mozhan Marno) discovered that the corpse was clean.
Meanwhile, back at the Task Force Headquarters, Tom Connolly (Reed Birney), who was going to be sworn in as the new Attorney General the next day, asked FBI Assistant Director Harold Cooper (Harry Lennix) to fabricate and to leak any classified intelligence to the media that would make it seem as if he was on top of the Reddington situation. After talking to his wife, Cooper realized that Connolly was blackmailing him by leveraging his health to do his bidding.
While this happened, Liz realized that Red had gotten to every possible contact that might have any information regarding the woman in the picture. Upset, Liz went to the secret camera hidden in Red’s secret apartment, and threatened to reveal all of his secrets. Because of this, Red told her that her mother had been a Russian spy, and that her father had worked in foreign intelligence as well. Liz’s real name was Masha and had been born in Moscow. Red then refused to tell her about the night of the fire, but admitted to have blocked her memory of the fire.
Meanwhile, Red managed to flush out Jasper through an elaborate scheme, and got Samar to interrogate him, which allowed them to discover that The Cabal was planning to target a military defense station sometime in the coming week.
Back at the Task Force, they managed to track down the laboratory where the Chinese women were embalmed, and thanks to customized prosperity notes that they found, traced it back to a Chinese billionaire whose son had committed suicide after being left at the altar by his fiancé, An Bai (Vivian Chiu) who was currently in America, as the smuggler specialized in mail order corpse brides. They then managed to rescue An Bai, and arrested Quon Zhang (Ron Yuan), who informed them that the weapon, a man named Katagut, had already been smuggled in for The Cabal,
Meanwhile, Cooper confronted Connolly who told him that his wife had leaked the document for him, and that he was now owned by The Cabal as he had perjured himself to save Liz from being indicted. As Cooper watched Connolly being sworn in, The Director received a package from Red containing Jasper’s tongue.
Liz, who finally internalized all the revelations Red had told her about her family, cried, and went to Tom for comfort, who gave it to her.
