“The Blacklist” will return to CBS this coming Monday night on Sept. 22, 2014. We already started giving you the latest spoilers for the upcoming Season 2. This time, we will share tidbits about the newest cast members who are set to join as series regulars and guest stars. Read on to learn more about them.
Deadline was the first to report on several casting scoops including the latest update on “The Blacklist” cast member Amir Arison, who portrays the role of Aram Mojtabai. His role as the FBI computer specialist was then promoted as a series regular ahead of the premiere of the second season. The news was announced after he appeared in 18 episodes out of the entire 22 episodes of “The Blacklist” Season 1.
Deadline also shared the biggest casting news at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. It was announced during the event that Mary-Louise Parker (“Weeds”) will join as a recurring character. Parker will take on the role as Naomi Highland, a woman who hides her dark connection with Reddington from her own husband.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, former “House of Cards” star Mozhan Marno will join the cast as the newest series regular. Marno will play as Tamar Katzman who was a former spy and Mossad agent who will have a problematic connection with James Spader’s character.
According to TV Line, TV actress Krysten Ritter joins Parker as a guest star in “The Blacklist.” Ritter, who will take on the role of a “a troubled data security firm analyst,” was known for her roles in “Breaking Bad” as Jane Margolis and in the cancelled ABC comedy “Don’t Trust the B– in Apartment 23” as Chloe.
Entertainment Weekly (EW), on the other hand, posted two casting updates and one of them will partly-complete the bridge between the characters of Parker and Spader. The first casting scoop from EW was the addition of Lee Tergesen (“Americans”) as Frank Hyland, the husband of Parker’s character, Naomi.
Lastly, Bokenkamp told EW that Paul Reubens will join as Mr. Vargas, who is set to appear in Season 2 Episode 3 for a two-episode arc. Reubens will play as “a dapper, finicky “muscle” who handles delicate situations in the criminal underworld.”
Bokencamp shared his enthusiasm on working with Reubens after his name came up while Bokencamp and his team created the Mr. Vargas character.
“It can’t get strange enough for me. One of the most fun things is being able to write for actors who I’ve admired and think are interesting and try to play against expectations. I think this will be a fun one. I’d say he’s gonna shake things up a bit when he enters Red’s orbit.” said Bokencamp in the EW article.
