“The Blacklist” Season 2 will premiere on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at 10:00 p.m. on NBC. There are only few days before the return of the highly acclaimed series and Movie News Guide (MNG) is here to serve you with the latest spoilers and updates for “The Blacklist.” WARNING! Read at you own risk.
“The Blacklist” is a crime drama series that revolves around the agent turned criminal named Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader) and his own “blacklist” containing the names of various terrorists that may endanger their society. He surrendered himself to work with the FBI through rookie Elizabeth “Liz” Keene (Megan Boone). Their almost-perfect working relationship began to crumble when several secrets about their mysterious connection began to be discovered.
The series, which sky-rocketed the careers of both Spader and Boone, have been renewed for a whooping 22-episodes run by NBC after the freshman series continued to soar with high ratings until its Season 1 finale was aired last May 12, 2014. It is created/co-produced by Jon Bokenkamp along with executive producers John Eisendrath and John Davis through the help of Sony Pictures Television, Universal Television, and Davis Entertainment.
According to Deadline, the first batch of spoilers was released during the show’s first-ever scheduled appearance in the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). Spader, along with Bokencamp and John Eisendrath, attended the event in front of thousands of “The Blacklist” fans.
“Then there is the question of relationships on a show all about unknown relationships. The question of who is Reddington to Elizabeth Keen is the central conceit to the show, but we’re really not going to answer that,” said Bokenkamp during the SDCC event.
Spader, on the other hand, teased the audience with some tidbits about the upcoming season. “The second season I think portends even more as the show sort of blew up at the end of the season and allowed the second season to become more expansive. We start to learn little bit more about Reddington and his mythological history.”
In an interview with TV Line’s Michael Ausiello, Bokencamp refused to give some updates on what happened with Liz’s husband/spy, Tom (Ryan Eggold).
“I do love that character, and it’s hard to imagine the show without him, but I don’t know what I could say to give any hope to Tom. There won’t be any big discoveries right away,” said Bokenkamp in the TV Line interview.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly shared that Liz will learn the things that Red can do to protect her and keep her away from harm. It was also said that there’s a chance that “it’ll be a two-way street when it comes to keeping secrets this season.”
Moreover, NBC continued to tease the audience as IBTimes reported that the network already released three short promos for the upcoming Season 2. The article summed up everything about the uploaded videos including “Pay Attention to Red,” “Stay Off His List,” and “Is Red Liz’s father?”
