Nature versus nurture has been a topic that has been debated time and time again. Some say that a person is in control of what that person becomes, and others argue that sometimes, one cannot escape who that person truly is, or a person’s past. This debate can be applied to NBC’s “The Blacklist,” and in particular, with the upcoming season of the series, in which, according to reports, not only will FBI Agent Elizabeth “Liz” Keen (Megan Boone) be on the run after her entire world crashed around her, it seems like “nature”, in this instance, will prevail, as she digs deeper into her past. WARNING: This article contains spoilers regarding Liz’s fate, and the discoveries she might be making in the upcoming season of “The Blacklist.” Read on only to learn more about Liz on the run.
Previously, in the last few moments of the season finale of season two, FBI Agent Elizabeth “Liz” Keen, before going on the run with FBI’s most wanted, Raymond “Red” Reddington (James Spader), discovered that her mother had been a former Russian spy. Her father had died after she shot him with a gun that she picked up from the floor. It was before her house burned down. She had done this as little Masha Rostova, Liz’s real name and identity, had witnessed her father hurting her mother.
This revelation will undoubtedly affect her in more ways than one,as International Business Times reported that show creator Jon Bokenkamp has stated that Liz’s “criminal past” is something that had been alluded to in the previous seasons. Liz became a criminal profiler for the FBI because of a specific reason, and this criminal past may actually come in handy, especially as Liz is now a fugitive on the run.
Aside from this, according to TV Guide’s Fall Preview, viewers and fans will be seeing how Liz manages to operate and work with Red and his associates. She only knew and used them before as part of a means in order to solve cases.
Also, it was noted that Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold), Liz’s fraudulent ex-husband, who is still very much in love with her, will help her out by going directly against FBI Agent Donald Ressler (Diego Klattenhoff), the new leader of the Task Force who is determined to capture his former partner.
Also, Spoiler TV recently released a promotional poster of the show’s third season. It featured Red with red sunglasses, and Liz at his back, brandishing a gun. On the poster were the words “It’s Good To Be Wanted.”
What else do you think lies in Liz’s past? What do you think about Tom potentially confronting Ressler? What else do you think will be happening in the upcoming season? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
