Country superstar Blake Shelton shocked his fans when he announced his divorce with Miranda Lambert a few months ago but the “Sangria” singer is in the middle of yet another dispute—this time with a magazine. Read on to know more details.
According to People Magazine, Shelton filed a complaint over a tabloid cover story that came out a few weeks ago indicting him of “hitting rock bottom and partying out of control”.
The cover printed the headline “The Real Story: REHAB for Blake”.
“Blake Shelton has had enough” and regarding the headline, “which among other things, falsely and maliciously indicates that Mr. Shelton is in rehab,” according to the complaint that People was able to obtain.
Various sources have denied claims of alcohol misuse to People Magazine. A very close friend of Shelton said he was “trying to have a sense of humor about all of [the rumors].”
Shelton also recently shrugged off speculations that he has moved on to date his “The Voice” co-star Gwen Stefani, who separated from husband Gavin Rossdale last August. He took to Twitter, saying: “Damn my dating life is awesome!! Let me know what happens…” (via The Toronto Sun)
The complaint also states that Shelton is aiming to “set the record straight – he is not in rehab, his ‘close circle’ is not trying to seek an intervention, and he is, in fact, hard at work on The Voice and other projects.”
Other allegations being thrown at Shelton is that he was supposedly hooking up with girls at a friend’s bachelor party in Mexico and drinking out of control.
In former story, In Touch Weekly also faulted Shelton of having an affair with singer Cady Groves. “The affair story was false,” said the complaint. “They did not have a sexual relationship or affair of any nature whatsoever.”
Shelton is set to release a compilation album called “Reloaded: 20 #1 Hits on October 23 and is pursuing “no less than $1 million” for damage to his “reputation, career, and standing in the community.”
