The flash forwards revealed Meg’s role in what they did to Danny. Read on to learn more about this episode.
Back at home, Meg Rayburn (Linda Cardellini) began to redo her father’s will and testament, which she hadn’t done even if her father had asked her to do it a long time ago. After Marco Diaz (Enrique Curciano) left for work, she visited her boyfriend, Alec Wolos (Steven Pasquale), whose commercial development was her client.
At John Rayburn’s (Kyle Chandler) house, he told Danny Rayburn (Ben Mendelsohn) that he should stay, especially as things were uncertain with their father, but that he couldn’t see Eric O’Bannon (Jamie McShane) anymore. The next day, when John informed the rest of his siblings, he became surprised as Kevin Rayburn (Norbert Leo Butz) was alright with it, and Meg had become tense over the situation, especially as someone will now have to help their mother run the inn and would have to take over their father’s duties at the inn.
Meanwhile, Danny collected his share of the money from Eric for the job that they had pulled off together, but refused to have any more dealings with him.
Afterwards, he brought his mother home from the hospital, and cooked a sumptuous meal for his family. There, they learned that Danny was going to work at the inn, and would take care of leading the snorkeling groups from now on, which was a duty that their father did, and that Danny would be staying at the guest room.
Before Meg left to meet up with Kevin at the local bar, Danny talked to her and helped her gather her things, which fell. Danny then discovered that Meg had a keycard for a motel room inside her bag, and realized that she had not been talking to Marco before he talked to her.
At the bar, Kevin revealed to Meg that he and his wife were getting divorced, and that their marriage had started falling apart a year ago, after Belle (Katie Finneran) miscarried.
The next morning, while Danny led his first snorkeling charter, Meg redid her father’s will, just as he asked, which included leaving Danny out of the will. However, at the hospital, she discovered that her father, now awake, was disoriented and called her Sarah. Later, she confronted Kevin about it, but he advised her to leave Danny, who wasn’t happy with his low pay, out of the will.
Later, when she confronted Danny about whether he was serious about staying, he advised her to treat her like he was part of the family, and was surprised to learn that their father hadn’t disowned him in the will.
At John’s house, as John’s son was creating a video for Robert using their old home videos, he stumbled upon a video of Meg’s birthday, with Sarah in it, but John advised him to leave that one out.
Outside, Meg remembered her father coming back from the beach, and remembered that Sarah, the girl that Danny remembered on the beach, used to run to greet him. Inside, Marco confronted her about their future together, but were interrupted by Danny who warned her to be more careful with her things, such as the key card, and told her that she would never please their father, as she wasn’t Sarah.
In the flash forwards, it was shown that a decision that Meg had done had started the chain of events that led to Danny’s death. She, soaking yet, became scared as Danny had started to call her cellphone. She then opened the trunk of her car to reveal a body inside.
