Blue Bloods” Season 5 Episode 20 “Payback” aired last Friday, Apr. 10, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. on CBS. In this episode, Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Detective Maria Baez (Marissa Ramirez) investigated the murder of a chef from a reality television show. Officer Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) and Officer Edit “Eddie” Jenko (Vanessa Ray) investigated an assault with strange circumstances. Meanwhile, a senator tried to leverage Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) to get his name out of the papers, which led him to forge a deeper relationship with an unexpected ally. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with Detective Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) and Detective Maria Baez (Marissa Ramirez) responding to homicide, in which celebrity chef Brett Madison had been murdered. The officer who responded to the scene then told them that his mentee, Marty Dustin (Lukas Hassel) might have killed his mentor as the officer had seen them arguing a night ago in which Madison brandished a knife. However, after they paid Dustin a visit, he pointed them towards the Choinski Management group, who owned the space that Madison had rented out for his restaurant. They had been upset at the fact that Madison wasn’t paying his rent on time.

Later that night, Officer Eric Landau (Nicholas J. Coleman) found himself in a tight spot after he stopped and interrupted a lover’s quarrel between Jess Weinstein (Kerri Lynn Miller), who had been driving under the influence, and Senator Ted McCreary (Peter Coyote), who immediately showed him that he was friends with Police Commissioner Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck).

Meanwhile, Officer Edit “Eddie” Jenko (Vanessa Ray) and Officer Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) came to the aid of Christina Henley (Emily Althouse). It was after they discovered that she was drugged and stripped down to her underwear. A crowd had formed around her and had suddenly disappeared after a few minutes.

The next day, Frank told McCreary that he would look into the matter for him, and told him that the officer had brought down the charge to “drinking under the influence”. However, McCreary wanted the charges and the summons to appear in court to disappear as it would look bad on him as Jess was his Deputy Chief of Staff and his campaigns had all been against drinking while driving.

Meanwhile, Christina, as soon as she woke up at the hospital, told Eddie and Jamie that she believed that her ex-boyfriend, Trevor Reed (Jonathan Gordon) and his friends had pulled this prank on her. Trevor had dumped her after she had switched teams in a game that they played in real-time called “Ionic Seige).

After bringing her back to her apartment, she told them that as soon as they had broken up, her bank accounts and assets had strangely frozen. As soon as they got there, several Ionic Seige players began harassing her. However, when they went to talk to Trevor, he insisted that he had nothing to do with it, and told them that Christina always found a way to blame someone else, making this a classic “he said, she said” story. Because of this, Eddie, because of her own experiences with men, took Christina’s side, while Jamie, who wanted to be more objective, became more suspicious of Christina, causing his partner to become upset at him.

Meanwhile, at the Commissioner’s Office, Deputy Commissioner for Public Information Garrett Moore (Gregory Jbara) advised Frank to grant Anne Farrell (Leslie Hope) an interview, and Special Assistant to the Police Commissioner Lieutenant  Sid Gormley (Robert Clohessy) informed Frank that Officer Landau had reported that the senator and his deputy had been in the middle of a lover’s quarrel when he had stopped them, which contracted what Ted told him.

Elsewhere, at Choinski Management, Lek Choinski (Dikran Tulaine) directed Danny and Maria to sixteen-year-old Viktor Bajek (Jake Cherry), a former employee of his, who subsequently confessed to murdering Madison. However, after interrogating him, they realized that he was covering for Choinski, who would take care of his family while he was in jail for a short period of time, as he had no prior records.

They then paid a visit to Lukas Gorski (Kett Turton), also a former Choinski employee, who was currently on parole, and who had previously refused to roll against Choinski. However, after persuading him to wear a wire while he talked to Choinski and his group at a local bar, they discovered that the secretary, Melena (Izabella Miko), was the one who had murdered Madison.

After getting some good advice during the family’s Sunday dinner, Jamie discovered that Trevor had stalked several ex-girlfriends in college. He and Eddie managed to stop Trevor from choking Christina to death, as he had lured her over to the Williamsburg Bridge to do so.

Meanwhile, Frank decided to have an interview with Anne Farrell (Leslie Hope), to dispel some rumors about a controversial shooting incident that happened to him and his partner years ago. McCreary had threatened to use it against him as Frank had refused to drop the charges on Jess, whom McCreary had been having an affair with.
