Bones” Season 10 Episode 13 “The Baker in the Bits” aired on Thursday, Apr. 9, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. on FOX. In this episode, the FBI and the Jeffersonian team investigated the murder of an ex-convict. He was working at a bakery that employed former felons after he was blown up to bits. Meanwhile, intern Arastoo Vaziri (Pej Vahdat) found himself in a difficult position after discovering that his brother in Iran was dying of cancer. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with a man running away from his pursuer. He then managed to stop and rest after his pursuer stopped chasing him, and then was blown into bits as he had stumbled upon a blasting site.

The next morning, D. Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel) helped her husband, FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) look in the trash for a particular picture of her and their daughter that had been thrown away. Booth then explained to her that that picture had helped him a lot during the three months he was in prison.

At the Jeffersonian, intern Arastoo Vaziri (Pej Vahdat) apologized to his girlfriend, Dr. Camille “Cam” Saroyan (Tamara Taylor). He had not showed up for their date the other night as he had been talking to his family. After telling her that they would talk later, the two concentrated on their victim, who had been blown up to bits.

They discovered that the victim was male, and Cam began to rehydrate the skin to figure out the tattoo on his arm. Afterwards, Arastoo informed Cam that the victim had been held captive for several days. He told her that he had to go back to Iran as his brother, Ahmid, was dying of cancer. However, this was a big risk as Arastoo had fled the country when he was eighteen and could be held as a political prisoner over there.

Afterwards, thanks to a database on prison tattoos, they identified the victim as Connor Freeman (Mario Perez). They also discovered that someone had tried to cut out the tattoo.

FBI Special Agent James Aubrey (John Boyd) then discovered from Connor’s live in girlfriend, Sabrina Clevenger (Chelsea Royce Tavares) that he worked for Roger Flenders (Jason Gray-Stanford). It was at a bakery called Sunrise Bakery, that employed ex-convicts.

After talking to the staff, they brought in Jason Pemberton (Cory Tucker). He is the brother of the clerk who had been paralyzed. It was during the last robbery that Connor had been involved in, as he had been threatening Connor. However, he wasn’t the killer.

Back at the Jeffersonian, Arastoo told Cam that it was his decision to make to return to Iran, and not hers. He then told her that he had found a triangle like cut in Connor’s upper torso. He told her that Connor had been restrained and been stabbed in the back.

Cam then told Angela Montenegro (Michaela Conlin), who comforted her, that Connor’s heart had given out due to exhaustion. He had been using drugs again as whatever was given to him to knock him out didn’t work. Later, Cam went to Booth for help. She told him that she had been talking to Doctors without Borders so that Ahmid could get the best care possibly available there. However, a little later, Arastoo informed Cam that his brother was quickly deteriorating.

Sabrina then told Aubrey that Connor had been using.  After questioning a co-worker of his, they discovered that Connor had been planning to rob the check cashing store that Sabrina worked at. However, Sabrina told them that she had refused to help Connor rob the place. She informed them that a colleague of his at the bakery had been in on it as well, which Flender refused to believe.

At the Jeffersonian, Cam and Arastoo reconciled. Dr. Jack Hodgins (TJ Thyne) found particulates that helped Angela trace Connor’s steps back to an old ironworks factory. Booth and Aubrey discovered that someone had been cutting out tattoos to hang them out to dry. They discovered three burnt bodies with the same ritualistic cuts, and that had the same cause of death.

After identifying the victims, they discovered that they all had connections to the assistant manager of the bakery, Alex Rockwell (Gabriel Salvador), one of Flender’s success stories.

Flender then helped set Alex up so that he could be arrested by Booth and Aubrey.

Afterwards, Booth told Bones that he had not yet given up faith in humanity. Arastoo informed Cam that he was leaving in a few hours as they found more masses in his brother’s brain. The two then hugged, and Arastoo promised to come back home to her.
