Read on to learn more about this episode.
The episode began with a very surprised FBI Special Agent Seeley Booth (David Boreanaz) as he discovered that his wife, Dr. Temperance “Bones” Brennan (Emily Deschanel), because of the things that had happened to them recently, was considering on quitting the Jeffersonian. However, before they could discuss anything further, they were called to a park. Dr. Camille “Cam” Saroyan (Tamara Taylor) and Dr. Jack Hodgins (TJ Thyne), were beginning to process the remains of a man in his mid twenties. The victim’s skin had been removed, and he had been impaled and posed onto an Egyptian obelisk. After discovering a flower in the victims throat, the entire team realized that they were looking at a possible copycat or admirer of the serial killer Christopher Pelant (Andrew Leeds), as the murder and the way that the body had been posed was similar to one of their cases which involved Pelant. He had also stolen Hodgins’ money which had amounted to $ 4.6 billion in total.
After a while, the remains were identified to be that of Franklin Holt, an Independent Computer Consultant, who lived alone, and worked mostly from the house. However, when Booth and FBI Special Agent James Aubrey (John Boyd) got there, they discovered that Leelah Strawn (Lindsey Kraft), Holt’s girlfriend, inside. They then had all of the computers, even if they had been stripped of every SD card and hard drive, brought to the Jeffersonian.
They then brought in Owen Ellickson (Derek Mio), the Security head of a bank, who had been fired because of Holt. However, after discovering that the bank he worked for was a bank protected by the government, they, thanks to Caroline Julian (Patricia Belcher), brought in Kevin Dunlop (Tug Coker) for questioning. However, before doing this, Booth told Bones that she was right. He told her that this was going to be his last case, and told her that it would be alright if they just had the baby and enjoyed what came their way next. He also then told Caroline, who had found it strange that Booth was letting Aubrey handle a case that was sensitive and that hit close to home.
Meanwhile, at the Jeffersonian, Daisy Wick (Carla Gallo), who had come by to say goodbye to Angela Montenegro (Michaela Conlin) and Hodgins, discovered a videotape, which Angela realized may contain some of Holt’s missing data. However, she realized that it would probably take months to retrieve everything. Bones then broke the news to Angela, and it was overhead by Cam, who couldn’t believe that most of her staff were leaving.
Back at the FBI, Aubrey managed to get Dunlop to talk, after revealing that he knew how banks like his worked as he had helped bring his own father, who had been a swindler, to justice. Dunlop then informed them that the money in Pelant’s account had vanished the day before.
They then brought Ellickson in after Angela discovered that Holt had paid Ellickson for some of the bank’s passwords.
Back at the Jeffersonian, Wendell Bray (Michael Grant Terry), Dr. Clark Edison (Eugene Byrd) and Daisy discovered that the killer had a unique medical wrist problem. Also, Hodgins used a calutron from the Manhattan Project exhibit in order to show that whoever had delivered the pizza to Holt had killed him.
After looking over the footage, Daisy and Edison realized that the killer was Leelah. It was especially after Angela discovered that Holt didn’t have a girlfriend, and the Leelah was a hacker who had been after the money. This led to Aubrey and Booth chasing Leelah at the train yard, where they managed to arrest her.
Afterwards, Angela told Hodgins that she had managed to recover the money, but he asked her to donate it to charity. She then told him that they weren’t going to Paris anymore as Hodgins, for now, belonged at the Jeffersonian.
However, it wasn’t the same for Booth and Bones, and Arastoo Vaziri (Pej Vahdat) came to comfort Cam.
Bones and Booth then said goodbye to Caroline, Aubrey, and everyone at the Jeffersonian as they packed their things and walked out the door.
