Here’s Why The Boss Baby Rules The Weekend Box-Office
The Boss Baby film has been anticipated as the champion with an estimated $49 million in its first three days in the theaters, reports Entertainment Weekly. The report further adds that although the animation film has failed to attract the critics, the movie is doing well. That being said, that film has gained an A- grade on CinemaScore as per the moviegoers poll.
The film has opened in theaters on March 31st. And the opening for the film has been remarkable as per media reports. It also adds that the animation film has been so far the month’s best performer (For March 2017) for the first time in history, the film has tallied over $1 billion in ticket sales. The impressive trailers of this film have significantly helped the film to gather social media buzz. In addition to this, the sibling rivalry and the adorable mission of the toddler baby is perhaps driving the fans to the theaters to watch the film.
The Boss Baby is directed by Tom McGrath and is loosely based on the 2010 picture book of the same name. The story narrates the tale of a baby who is a secret agent in the secret war between babies and puppies.
Progress Of Beauty And The Beast
Directed by Bill Condon, musical fantasy film, Beauty and the Beast is placed at the second spot in its third week since its release. It has generated an approximate $47.5 million. With this, the worldwide collection of this film has been raised to a magnificent total of $876 million, as per aforementioned source. Meanwhile, the film continues to gather a good amount of sum at the domestic Box-Office collection.
Beauty and the Beast is the story of Belle (Emma Watson). She is imprisoned in a castle by the fearsome looking Beast (who is actually a cursed Prince). It has been released in the theaters on March 17, 2017. But the film continues to run in the theaters due to the increasing popularity among fans.
Ghost In The Shell At The Box Office
The science-fiction film, Ghost in the Shell is based on the Japanese manga of the same name by Masamune Shirow. Directed by Rupert Sanders, the film stars, Scarlett Johansson, Takeshi Kitano, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, Chin Han and Juliette Binoche.
It was released on the same day as The Boss Baby. But it seems to be more affected by the release of the DreamWorks animation film. Ghost in the Shell has opened the weekend box-office collection ranking at third place. As per the aforementioned source, against the production budget of $110 million, the sci-fi film has managed to gather only $19 million domestically. It seems difficult for this film to survive the next weekend at the box-office with such a less response despite the popularity of the Japanese manga.
Who Will Rule The Box-Office Next?
It will be now interesting to see who will rule the box-office in the upcoming weekend. Sony Pictures Animation film Smurfs: The Lost Village will open in the theaters. This film might pose a challenge to The Boss Baby animation film. But only time will tell whether Smurfs: The Lost Village will be able to defeat Beauty and the Beast on the opening weekend or not.
