Terminator Genisys has made a whopping $320 million business overseas while its worldwide tally is now around $409 million. Thus, it has become the first film from America to cross the magic figure of $400 million globally.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator Genisys enjoyed a strong first week in Chinese Box Office and managed to cross the $400 million mark at its domestic box office. Forbes reported that though the movie suffered from a box office disaster in this summer, it did pretty well in the overseas market with a big earning of $236 million before its much-awaited release in China.
Terminator Genisys managed to bag $27 million in China, which is the second largest movie going territory in the world on its opening day itself. The movie had the fourth highest opening day earnings only trailing behind movies like Transformers: Age of Extinction, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Furious 7.
As of August 30, 2015, the movie earned $82.8 million within first eight days itself. That brought its total tally to $409.4 million globally, thanks to a strong start in China as reported by NEWSUNITED.
The box office success of this movie is a classic example of how crucial the performance of a Hollywood movie is in its overseas box office market. In fact, as seen from the amazing performance of this movie, it can be rightfully claimed that the importance of overseas market has surpassed that of the domestic market in terms of the business for these big movies.
Though, the movie had a dismissal performance in the American box office and did not have an impressive business worldwide, its release in China changed the overall picture altogether. Thanks to the success of the movie in the overseas market, it is now being perceived as a hit.
