Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight of the century did not go too well as everyone expected, including boxing legend, Evander Holyfield.
Manny gave full blows while Mayweather displayed his superb defense. The match ended with a unanimous decision from the judges calling Floyd Mayweather the undefeated champion.
On the other hand, former cruiseweight and heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield joined a number of Pacman supporters after saying he thought Manny Pacquiao won the fight. This was during an interview conducted by Robert Flores of ESPN after the fight night on Saturday.
Previously, Evander Holyfield was also interviewed by FT USAToday about the upcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather. Holyfield said at that time, “I don’t know the judges. In this situation, they should be able to point out why a fighter wins. Pacquiao is going to be more aggressive. Mayweather moves a lot. But they should be able to explain who really won the fight.
The boxing legend also added, “Mayweather moves, but I hope he brings it, too. I want the judges to be able to say, ‘Not only did he take the other guy’s stuff, but he gave some, too.’ I just hope people out there can see it clearly, and the judges make it clear. Did Mayweather go the distance and just take it, or did he give it some, too?”
When he was asked about who will win the match, Evander Holyfield did not give any predictions.
However, after the fight on Saturday, Evander Holyfield could not keep his thoughts to himself after sharing the same sentiments with Manny Pacquiao. At the post-fight interview, we all heard Pacman saying he thought he won the fight, which was also the same thought Evander Holyfield had.
During the interview with ESPN, Evander Holyfield said, “Well, I actually thought he did. The fact of the matter is you are the most aggressive one, you hitting him with shots. He was the one blocking shots. Pacquiao seemed to hit him more times than he hit Pacquiao. Didn’t nobody hurt each other real bad but the fact of the matter is if don’t nobody hurt each other bad and one guy is throwing the most punches, then how do you score the card?”
