Brad Bird recently reacted on Vin Diesel’s statement about “The Iron Giant 2.” Is the sequel finally happening? Read on for more details.
“The Iron Giant” creator Brad Bird, 57, gave an update on “The Iron Giant 2” via his official Twitter account.
Replying to a Twitter user who said a sequel might ruin the animated film, Bird said they were done for “The Iron Giant.” He said the “Fast & Furious 8” star Vin Diesel, 48, was just having fun.
Vin was just having fun stirring pots. I agree with you; we told the story we wanted to tell–
-and now we're done. https://t.co/LP4zNtqvYo

However, others agreed on Bird and said it does not need “The Iron Giant 2” since its first installment was already perfect.
@BradBirdA113 I second that. It's a perfect film, and perfect films don't require sequels. 🙂

@BradBirdA113 We've watched The Iron Giant every night before my son goes to sleep. He loves it. We all do.

But this post from another fan seemed to be the best:

Bird’s statement followed after Diesel, who gave voice to the giant robot in “The Iron Giant,” allegedly hinted on a possible sequel. In Diesel’s post at his official Facebook account, he told fans not to be surprised if Warner Bros. Entertainment announce it.
“I have been very lucky to have played so many interesting characters… one of the first and one of my favorites is… the Iron Giant. P.s. Don’t be surprised when you hear WB (Warner Bros.) announce the sequel,” Diesel said.
This excited thousands of fans, making Diesel’s video post having more than 3 million views, 200,000 likes, 20,000 shares, and almost 6,000 comments.
While Bird’s post seemed to be a letdown, Forbes’ Ollie Barder thought a sequel makes a lot of sense. He also said it was the usual way of announcing a sequel – denying it but later doing it.
@MarikoLochridge Yeah, exactly!

But since Brad Bird gave an update, a sequel is not happening. Still, it will be highly welcomed.
“The Iron Giant” Signature Edition is set to have its first release at a special Fathom Events screening on Wednesday, September 30.
