The UK trailer of the Steven Spielberg’s directed film, “Bridge of Spies” finally got released and Tom Hanks is everything we were waiting for to see in a war thriller film. Read on for more details.
Directed by Steven Spielberg, “Bridge of Spies” is a war thriller film based on Gary Powers U-2 spy plane crisis in 1960. According to Variety, the trailer of the film was released in the United States few days back. Now, we have the United Kingdom’s one and one can clearly find the difference between the two released trailers. Plus, it’s not going to be the first time when one studio has chosen two different marketing strategies for one film.
The basic nature of “Bridge of Spies” is very clear and as one can see in two trailers, the plot is quite same. The story is set largely in grim US CIA offices and in the grimmer zones of the communist parts of East Berlin. the “Private Saving Ryan” star is playing the role of an American lawyer named James Donovan. He tries to negotiate with the Russians to sort out a spy swap so that they can get Gary Powers back.
The UK trailer of the film starts with Donovan as the Lawyer before the Powers case. He is defending a Russian spy played by Mark Rylance. The introduction sure gives us the prologue of the main character and at the same time, giving extra screen time to the British actor, Mark Rylance is a nice strategy. Moreover, the pre-Powers case also emphasizes on a layered approach to the drama that will unfold in the film.
On the other hand, the US trailer of “Bridge of Spies,” starts with Donovan getting assigned on the mission to get back the Powers. The same snippets have been used here as well, but they are arranged to illustrate the mechanism of the film’s central act of negotiation.
“Bridge of Spies” is due to release on October 16 in US and after almost a fortnight, the film will hit in UK on Nov. 6, 2015.
