Brie Larson, who got critically acclaimed for her performance in “Room” at Toronto International Film Festival 2015, is speculated to replace Emma Stone as Billie Jean King in upcoming flick “Battle of the Sexes” directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Daris. The “Birdman” actress is reportedly dropped out of the project due to dates’ conflict and the production has approached Larson for the role. The film is based on the script of Simon Beaufoy and is expected to go on floor this year.
According to The Guardian, this version of “Battle of the Sexes” is based on an infamous tennis match between Billie Jean King world number 2 that time and former Wimbledon champ Riggs. The timeline is set in 1973 and the match happens to be in Houston. The winner gets whopping prize money of $100,000.
Riggs believed that he could beat any top female player as he thought their game was inferior. The 29-year-old King rose to the challenge and beat the 55-year-old former Wimbledon champ, marking it as a remarkable event of the history.
