Another HBO series is moving forward, as the Jack Black political dark comedy, “The Brink,” has just added two new actors to their roster- Michelle Gomez and Rob Brydon. Read on to learn more about this story.
“The Brink” is a geopolitical dark comedy that follows three unlikely men who have to team up together to save mankind from an impending World War III, after a geopolitical crisis hits. These men are United States Secretary of State Walter Hollander (Tim Robbins), Foreign Service Officer Alex Coppins (Jack Black) and Navy fighter pilot Zeke Callahan (Pablo Schrieber).
Just recently, it was also announced that Jaimie Alexander had joined the cast as Gail Sweet, a public affairs officer on an aircraft carrier. In the same Movie News Guide (MNG) article, it was also reported that actor Bernard White had joined the cast as General Haroon Raja, the ambitious head of the intelligence agency of Pakistan, who hopes to rule Pakistan one day.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the newest additions to the cast of “The Brink” are Rob Brydon and Michelle Gomez.
Rob Brydon is best known for his roles in “Gavin and Stacy” (2007 to 2010), “The Trip” (2010 to 2014) and “The Rob Brydon Show” (2011). Michelle Gomez, on the other hand, is best known for her work in “The Green Wing” (2004 to 2006), “Bad Education” (2012 to 2013), and in the most recent episodes of “Doctor Who” (2014).
Brydon and Gomez will team up together to portray Martin and Vanessa, respectively. Deadline described the couple as “intelligent, tight knit and eccentric.”
“The Brink” will be directed by Jay Roach (“Meet the Parents,” “Meet the Fockers,” “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” “Borat,” “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me”). It will be executive produced by Jerry Weintraub, Jay Roach, Roberto Benabib, Kim Benabib and Susan Ekins.
The series will be aired on HBO, and each episode will be half an hour long.
