One of the milestones a singer may reach is to see their hits still being appreciated over the years. For Britney Spears, she may now consider her 2000 hit ‘Oops! …I Did It Again’ such a milestone, as the song celebrated the 15th year of its release on radio.
Friday, March 27 marked the 15th anniversary of the release of Britney Spears’ hit song ‘Oops! …I Did It Again’. It was released on radio on March 27, 2000, and since then the song sent waves in the pop music industry. It ranked No. 9 on Billboard Hot 100. Also, thanks to it, Spears received a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Performance. It was also nominated for Favorite Song at the 2001 Kids’ Choice Awards.
In celebration of the special day, many fans took to Twitter to congratulate Spears and reminisce on the song under the hashtag #HappyBirthdayOopsIDidItAgain. After all, who wouldn’t forget the cute blonde girl living in Mars, wearing a red jumpsuit, and dancing the night away with an astronaut watching just close by?
Spears also took to Twitter later that day to thank everyone who sent their congratulations on her song’s birthday. She even quoted a part of the song with regards to all the greetings, “… Aww you shouldn’t have ;)”.
In a previous interview about the music video, it was revealed that the entire ‘dancing on Mars’ idea was actually Spears’ idea, including her red jumpsuit. It was filmed in California and was directed by Nigel Dick, making this the fourth and last time he and Spears collaborated for a video. The other three songs they worked on together, ‘…Baby One More Time’, ‘Sometimes’, and ‘(You Drive Me) Crazy’ were from her debut album.
The ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’ music video was nominated at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards for the Best Female Video award, the Best Dance Video award, and the Best Pop Video award.
