It seems that singing sensation Britney Spears and the song “Piece of Me” has a strange and ominous connection. The famous song that topped music charts during 2007 had received wide spread critical acclaim, has been often considered as a kind of a parody of the star’s own life. Right from the lyrics to the music video the song remained in the minds of music connoisseurs for a very long time. However in twist of destiny Spears again got embroiled in the long list of controversies.
Owner of bangin-beats.com, Kirk Rothrum , raised the controversy bar when he claimed copyright infringement on some sections of the song. He claimed that part of the song which sounds something “uhh” and “oh yeah” have been lifted from his music sampling library! Rothrum had further claimed that many well know artists have used his work, but unlike Britney Spears and Sony Music they did bother to pay up the licensing fee. The controversy over the permission and licensing never seem to die out and then we have Britney ending with wardrobe malfunction while performing the very song in Las Vegas. Now isn’t this strange and sounds some kind of voodoo effect! Of course Britney walked through this incident with much more dignity and pose. Her sheer professionalism and love for her work showed up when she went on to perform the song with great confidence and passion, and for this social media is all praises for her.
Well all is not that bad however for Britney and Sony after all. Kirk Rothrum, finally decided to call off the lawsuit. Finally getting frustrated over the lackluster speed and lawsuit expenses rothrum voluntarily decided to dismiss the procedure. Now that is some good news for Britney’s fans, for Britney and for Sony. Whatever is the truth the outcome should be a lesson for all the parties involved.
