Fans of “Broadchurch” in the United Kingdom and the United States have something to look forward to with a couple of news that recently came out about the show. First, BBC America has confirmed that the second season will be returning to the network in 2015; and second, filming for the new season is underway. The series airs first in the UK on ITV, while viewers in the U.S. can watch the show on BBC America. Read further to learn more about the critically acclaimed series, “Broadchurch.”
Renewed for a second season in April 2013 on ITV, “Broadchurch” has started the production of Season 2 in Dorsetand North Somerset. Bystanders who chanced upon the filming were apparently asked not to share photographs and post updates on social networking sites, but the Daily Mail featured an exclusive, teasing fans with many photos that provide clues and hints about what will happen in the next season.
The report is clear about two things.First, the upcoming season will immediately follow the events of the previous season, with the Latimer family still struggling with the loss of their son, Danny, who was murdered by someone he trusted. Second, Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller (Olivia Coleman), who worked on the case, looks like she’s also dealing with the aftermath of what happened at the end of the first season (Spoiler Alert! Do not read if you do not want to know what happens to the show), where it was revealed that her husband was the murderer.

The second season will still maintain its lead stars David Tennant and Olivia Coleman, as well as Andrew Buchan, Jodie Whittaker and Arthur Darvill. But there will be new additions to the cast, including Charlote Rampling, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Eve Myles, Phoebe Waller Bride and James D’Arcy, as published in ITV’s press release. ITV has yet to announce the actual premiere date for the second series.
Meanwhile, BBC America announced that it will have “Broadchurch’s” second season in its early 2015 schedule.
The show, which pulled over 10 million viewers for the first season, has gotten a remake in America with “Gracepoint” on FOX, which also stars David Tennant with Anna Gunn (“Breaking Bad”).
