Brooklyn Nine Nine” Season 2 Episode 12 “Beach House” aired on n Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at 8:30 p.m. on FOX. It’s the annual Detective’s Only Getaway (a.k.a. Dog Party 15!) at Charles’ beach house. But Jake ruined the moment by inviting the captain over. Find out what happened in this episode in the recap below.

Everyone at the precinct is looking forward to the annual getaway, and this year, it’s held at Charles’ (Joe Lo Truglio) beach house, which he shares with his ex-wife in the divorce arrangement. Sgt. Terry (Terry Crews) is eager to unwind and forget about his responsibilities as a father for a while, while Gina (Chelsea Peretti) is excited to finally see six-drink Amy (Melissa Fumero). See, Amy’s craziness escalates when she drinks, and Gina is hoping that six-drink Amy would be her soul mate.

They all get to leave the precinct early as Capt. Holt (Andre Braugher) gives them the day off. Jake (Adam Samberg), however, remains to finish his reports at work. He talks to the captain about the times he spent his getaway with his co-workers back in the day. But as it turns out, the captain never got to enjoy this because he’s been singled out as black and gay.

When Jake arrives at the beach house, they are all shock to see that the captain is with him. His reason? He felt sorry for the captain upon learning his story, and so he invited him to come. But Jake promises the gang that the captain will not ruin the weekend for everyone.

Meanwhile, Rosa’s (Stephanie Beatriz) relationship with the captain’s nephew Marcus (guest star Nick Cannon) is getting serious. He’s been sending her romantic text messages, but Rosa isn’t sure how to respond to this. She doesn’t know how to flirt. She talks cues from Charles, though, who helps her come up with really good messages. Rosa feels icky about it, but then she slowly picks up the right way to text her boyfriend. Thanks, Charles!

Amy refuses any more alcohol as she doesn’t want to get drunk with the captain around. While having the most civil and subdued lunch together with their boss, the captain proposes a toast, to which Gina chides Amy to drink. The captain coaxes her too, saying she’s in their weekend getaway after all. With this, she’s already down to her third glass. Three more to go!

Next, upon the captain’s suggestion, they head to the beach to walk, even when it’s the middle of a freezing winter. Then they warm up with a soak in the jacuzzi afterwards. Only the captain couldn’t hear them talk, so they turn the jacuzzi bubbles off. He’s really no fun, isn’t he?

While the captain is taking a bath and the rest are down in the basement, Jake devises a plan: they could do separate parties. The captain stays in the living room, while the rest of them can take shifts indulging him as the real party is happening downstairs. This idea worked for a while so that the upstairs “party” with the captain involves boring stories, while the downstairs party with everyone else in shifts involves beer pongs, chords and a slew of games.

Until the captain himself discovers what’s been happening. Uh-oh!

Meanwhile, six-drink Amy finally surfaces, and it turns out she’s the saddest of the drunken Amys ever. This bums Gina out, but because Amy is really drunk, she ends up taking care of her. If only because she knows Amy will never remember this.

Rosa’s texting with Marcus seemingly escalates to what looks like sex texting. She really, really likes him, and Charles was able to convince her to tell Marcus this.

Jake tries to explain to the captain about having the separate parties, but thankfully, he gets it. Upon Jake’s suggestion, when the captain returned to the party, he drops his guard and let loose with his staff. He stoops to their level and everyone ends up having a really good time, including Capt. Holt.
