Brooklyn Nine-Nine” Season 2 Episode 10 “The Pontiac Bandit Returns” aired on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, at 8:30 p.m. on FOX. Guest star Craig Robinson returned to reprise his role as Doug Judy, otherwise known as the Pontiac Bandit. Find out what happened in the episode in the full recap.

Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) were on a stakeout. Jake was undercover as Santa Claus as they were following up on a perp. But as they were doing this, they chanced upon the Pontiac Bandit, a.k.a. Doug Judy, unexpectedly, so Jake and Rosa chased after him. Judy has long been wanted by the police. When they got to the precinct, Jake was quite proud to tell everyone that they finally caught the elusive bandit.

Judy, however, wanted to cut a deal. In exchange for a lighter sentence in prison — he was going to bring the police the drug leader of Giggle Pig, Tito Ruiz. Rosa and Capt. Holt (Andre Braugher) were open to the idea, despite Jake’s protests. They really wanted to close this case as the precinct’s drug task force was working on this for weeks.

One of Judy’s requests, on top of a lighter sentence and Rosa being nice to him in exchange for intel on Ruiz, was to let him stay in a four-star hotel. The captain granted this, but Jake kept a watchful eye on Judy all the time. He even placed a GPS tracker on his stinky shoes, in case he bolted. Jake was actually paranoid that Judy was going to get away again. But later on, he kind of relaxed with him as they shared a meal of lobster together.

Rosa instructed Judy to get in touch with Ruiz, and later, they received a reply that the drug leader was to meet up with him. When they got to the designated place, Ruiz asked who Jake and Rosa were. Judy introduced them as his apprentice and his bodyguard.

To test his apprentice, Ruiz wanted to know if Jake could steal a car in under two minutes. Judy coached Jake into breaking into a parked vehicle, which, thankfully, satisfied Ruiz. They were then brought to a warehouse, where Ruiz showed them his drug operation.

But before Rosa and Jake could make any more move, a truck plowed right into the gates and messed up the sting operation. It turned out this was Judy’s accomplice, who was also the room service boy at the hotel. Judy actually planned on getting away. He knew Jake placed a tracker on his boots, so he ditched this. However, Jake was able to hold onto Judy tightly as he boarded the truck to escape, but Judy pointed out to him that Ruiz was getting away too. So Jake had no choice but to give up on the Pontiac Bandit to go after the drug lord. Rosa was all smiles as they celebrated the victory in the bar.

Rosa: I cannot stop smiling! Seriously, how do people do this with their faces?

But while Jake scored a new victory for the drug task force when he toppled the drug ring, he couldn't celebrate when the Pontiac Bandit escaped again. Rosa assured him that they will be able to catch Doug Judy, as they have done it before. Jake actually got word from him. He sent a video from a tropical island somewhere with the room service boy.

Meanwhile, Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) discovered a present his father was supposed to give Gina’s (Chelsea Peretti) mother. They knew they were hooking up, but this gift meant things were getting serious, and Boyle and Gina felt icky about this. They needed to break the old couple up, so Gina suggested they should have a dinner with them and encouraged them to open their presents. As they already knew that the gift was a weighing scale, which Gina was sure her mother was going to hate, the plan to break them up was sounding good!

However, Gina’s mother actually loved the weighing scale. They were going to need this for the guest bathroom once their parents moved in together. Yes, they were getting serious! Unfortunately for Gina, she couldn’t handle this news, so she left their dinner chugging wine.

Later on, Gina had an epiphany. This new set-up with their parents gave her life a new purpose again. That is, she was going to plan a lot of schemes to make their living together so bad that they will eventually break up.

The last storyline in this episode involved Amy’s (Melissa Fumero) Christmas present for Capt. Holt. Now, the captain has instructed them that gifts are a no-no. They were not to spend anything on him even when he’s throwing their Christmas party. But Amy found a loophole in this rule by creating a scrapbook filled with the captain’s accomplishments. And nope, she did not spend a lot of money for it.

However, going through some of the captain’s records for the scrapbook, Amy noticed that one other case Holt solved back in 1999 had a mistake. The Brooklyn Broiler did not set one of the fires he was charged with, so then Amy had to bring this to Holt’s attention.

Holt respected Amy for coming to him to boldly bring this to mistake to his attention. He called up a judge to correct the error but had one last request from Amy. As his gift to her, she was going to help him figure out who actually started that one fire.
