Brooklyn Nine Nine” will come back for its sophomore run on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014 at 8:30 p.m. on FOX. Just like what we did for NBC’s “The Blacklist,” we will share with you the latest casting updates on our favorite police troop, as well as, scoops on new series regulars and guest stars. Read on to learn more about them.

Two of the beloved “Brooklyn Nine Nine” recurring cast members are set to return as series regulars. It was reported by Deadline that both Joel McKinnon Miller and Dirk Blocker will come back to play as Detectives Scully and Hitchcock. Miller played as the bumbling police veteran Scully and Blocker took on the role of Hitchcock, who volunteers to take his shirt off with no apparent reason.

Entertainment Weekly (EW), on the other hand, reported three big scoops for this season’s guest stars. The first one is Kyra Sedgwick, who is set to appear on two episodes. Sedgwick, known for playing as Brenda Leigh Johnson in the TNT police procedural drama “The Closer” and its spin-off, “Major Crimes.” Sedgwick will put her suit again as a deputy chief, but this time, Sedgwick will take on the role of Madeline Wuntch, Captain Ray Holt’s (Andre Braugher) longtime rival in the field.

Aside from Sedgwick, EW shared that Jenny Slate (“Married,” “Parks and Recreation”) and former NFL player Terrence Owens will also join as guest stars. Slate will play as Bianca, the mob mistress that Jake will meet and help him close his top-secret case for the FBI. She and Sedgwick will appear in Season 2 Episode 2, which will air on Oct. 5, 2014. Meanwhile, Owens will portray himself as he battles Sergeant Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews) for another round of a football game between cops and firemen.

According to Deadline, former “Desperate Housewives” star Eva Longoria will have her own story arc for three episodes in Season 2. She will play as the defense attorney named Sophia who will be the center of Jake Peralta’s (Andy Samberg) attention. It was also reported that timing is not in favor for these two as they face each other on the other side of the court.

Moreover, TV Guide shared the last of the fresh updates on the casting scoops with another great addition. Comedian Ed Helms, one of the cast members of the hit “Hangover” film franchise, will be featured as a United States Postal Inspection Service (USPIS) officer who will make it miserable for Peralta to solve one of his cases. He will appear in Season 2 Episode 7, which will air on Nov. 16, 2014.

“Brooklyn Nine Nine” isn’t new on booking prominent actors and actresses in the industry. Some of them previously worked with the creators and even the cast members on a different project. The previous guest stars were Andy Richter (“Saturday Night Live”), Stacy Keach (“Prison Break”), musician Kid Cudi, Craig Robinson (“Mr. Robinson”), Marc Evan Jackson (“Parks and Recreation”), Joe Theismann and Hollywood comedian Adam Sandler (“That’s My Boy”).
