“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” will premiere on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014, at 8:30 p.m. on FOX. It stands as one of the handful freshman comedy series that has survived last year’s Fall TV season. Read on to learn more about the latest updates for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.” WARNING! Read at you own risk.
The FOX series became a hit for giving a comedic side among the airing police procedural dramas today. It has captured the attention of both the viewers and several award-giving bodies. It has been given two major awards in comedy/musical series categories during last year’s Golden Globe awards, including Best TV series and the first-ever Best Actor award for Andy Samberg. Andre Braugher, who portrays as Captain Ray Holt, received his own Emmy nomination for Best Supporting Actor during the recently concluded Primetime Emmy Awards.
During the TCA press tour, co-creator and executive producer Michael Schur has confirmed to TV Line that the series will undergo a time jump sequence, and it will not pick up where they left off. The season finale ended with Jake Peralta’s romantic confession to Amy Santiago before heading to become part of a top-secret FBI investigation.
TV Line also got the chance to interview Melissa Fumero, who plays as Amy Santiago. She also noted that her character’s strong relationship with boyfriend Teddy (Kyle Bornheimer) might also be a problem with Jake’s confession.
“We definitely will hear his name a bunch throughout the first episodes, and I think we will see [Kyle Bornheimer] again. Teddy and Amy are still really going strong,” said Fumero in the TV Line interview. “But I think fans will be surprised by how it all goes down, how Jake handles it.”
In other news, FOX has released the first look video for “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” Season 2, which deals with the aftermath of Jake’s six-month stint as a top-secret FBI undercover. Samberg is seen sporting a new hairdo and mafia attitude that might strain his relationship with Charles (Joe Lo Truglio).
There is also the ultimate shocker during the season finale when Charles had a “illicit one-night stand” with Gina (Chelsea Peretti) while still nursing heartbreak over his crumbling marriage. Both Truglio and Peretti shared that Charles will struggle keeping it a secret, but it seems that their co-workers were also oblivious about it.
