“X-Men: Apocalypse” has something special for all fans. During an appearance on Empire Spoiler Podcast as a guest with the film’s executive producer Simon Kinberg, director Bryan Singer revealed that he actually has a small cameo in the film.
The ace director’s cameo is quite brief as his character is killed by Weapon X a.k.a. Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). It was after Jean Grey, Cyclops and Nightcrawler set him loose. According to Comic Book Movie, Singer will be seen playing a soldier with a machine gun who is killed by Wolverine when goes on a rampage killing any guard who comes in his way.
“I have a little cameo, I’m the guy with the machine gun… screaming. When I look at it, I couldn’t recognize myself so I knew no one else could. But it was cool to get killed by Wolverine. It’s now one of the many things I can put on my resume,” Singer said during the appearance.
Bryan Singer also added, “We went back later to film the Wolverine segment because Hugh was training for the next Wolverine sequel and we wanted him to a certain kind of shape. At first, Hugh was reticent to do it, but once I explained it to him, what the scene is and why it’s there, he agreed to do it over the phone, which is unusual. Usually, there’s a bit of negotiation involved, but he said ‘You can call my agent, but I’m in, I love it.’”
It was quite unclear for a very long time whether Jackman would be appearing in this “X-Men” sequel, but it was not surprising when Wolverine was seen in the final trailer as he has appeared in every “X-Men” universe movie so far.
Interestingly, this is not Bryan’s first appearance in an “X-Men” movie as he appeared in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” holding a film camera in a particular scene and also in 2003’s “X2” where he can be seen as a prison guard as reported by Screen Rant.
