The year 2016 is truly going to be a year for superhero movies. On top of the two huge event movies, “Captain America: Civil War” and “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” moviegoers will also be treated to Ryan Reynold’s “Deadpool” and the ensemble film “Suicide Squad.” But there’s another Marvel movie that’s set for release next year that is yet to make some buzz beyond teasers and speculations: Bryan J. Singer’s “X-Men: Apocalypse.” Now, the director assures fans that a trailer is on its way.
Principal photography for “X-Men: Apocalypse” wrapped up a few months ago and director Bryan J. Singer had been busy with post-production all this time. His Instagram since then had been his venue in giving snippets of updates abut the latest X-Men film.
Just a few hours ago, the director posted another update that had all superhero movie fans excited. Sitting in the editing room with composer John Ottman, Singer teased fans with the caption, “Back in the cutting room…. teaser coming soon.”
The small update had been liked more than 5,000 times as of press time and user comments all sound excited. Though the 50-year old filmmaker has not yet pinned a release date for the teaser, it’s evident that many a fan are already looking forward to it.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is the direct sequel to last year’s “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and is the ninth overall X-Men movie. Previous speculation point to it having a Magneto-Mystique romance as a focal point, with the former even possibly meeting his death within the film. Donning the said roles are Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence. They are joined by James McAvoy as Professor X, Oscar Isaac as Apocalypse, Nicholas Hoult as the Beast, Olivia Munn as Psylocke, and Evan Peters as Quicksilver.
Barring any delays in production, “X-Men: Apocalypse” is rolling out to theatres on May 27, 2016.
