Caitlyn Jenner was confronted by transgender protesters who said that she was too rich and too privileged to be a spokesperson for their community. Jenner was confronted when she chosen to give a speech on the problems that transgender community faces at the 7th annual Speaker Series luncheon for the Chicago House in Chicago Illinois.
Caitlyn Jenner might have hit the right note as a speaker at the 7th Annual Speaker Series luncheon for the Chicago House, but the scene outside told a different story. The former Olympian was accosted by members of the transgendered community as soon as she got out of the hall where she was speaking.
The protesters gathered at the place got into an argument with Jenner over whether or not she was perfect to represent their community. The sloganeers screamed that she was “an insult to transgender and an insult to women.’”The sloganeers were angered that Jenner had always led a privileged life, never having to struggle to fit in like most transgender people do.
The group protesting at the scene cited the fact that Jenner lives in a private mansion which is worth millions and her personal net worth runs in millions of dollars. An average trans person, on the other hand, has to struggle to make ends meet. On an average over 50% of transgendered people live on less than 10000 dollars a year.
Homelessness is common among the transgendered people. Over 41 percent of transgender people stand the risk of experiencing homelessness. The group claimed that these things point to the fact that Jenner has never experienced anything that would make her an accurate representative of the transgender people.
Caitlyn Jenner talked to the people protesting but failed to impress them. The entire sequence was videotaped for Caitlyn’s TV Show, “I am Cait.” The group protesting calls themselves, “I ain’t Cait.”
