‘Cake Boss’ Star Arrested for DUI
On his first trip to West Point, the “Cake Boss” presented a giant chapel cake for the Cadet Chapel Centennial celebration on June 11. A TLC production crew captured the presentation for a Season Three episode of “Cake Boss” which aired Nov. 15.

“Cake Boss” star Buddy Valastro was arrested for drunk driving on Thursday afternoon for speeding along the Hudson Yards. He was driving a yellow 2014 Corvette. Valastro appeared intoxicated with flushed skin and bloodshot eyes. He failed the breathalyzer test.

Valastro reportedly told officers, “You can’t arrest me! I’m the cake boss!” He allegedly asked to be sent home instead of being cuffed, saying, “Can you just put me in a cab? I don’t have to be arrested. I’m not a bad guy.”

He showed up at the arraignment with his attorneys, but the reality star did not enter a plea. He also rejected a plea bargain from the court.

Valastro released a statement on the day of his arrest.

“Please know that I want to share and explain to you what happened today and I look forward to doing so at a later date,” he said. “I appreciate your support and understanding as we handle things privately as a family.”

“Cake Boss” is a TLC reality show that revolves around a bakery run by an Italian-American family. Valastro appears on the show alongside his siblings Lisa, Maddalena, Grace and Mary. The show had a total of six seasons, which aired from 2009 to 2013.

The show features Carlo's Bakeshop, which the family owns. The series' popularity has increased the demand for bakery's products. It also helped draw more tourists to the Hoboken in New Jersey, where the bakery is located.

TLC issued a quick statement regarding the matter, saying: “We are thankful no one was harmed. This is a personal matter for Buddy and his family.”

Valastro is not the first TLC reality star to be mired in controversy. Another reality star on the same network, June Shannon, has been in the news for rekindling her romance with a sex offender. Following reports about the relationship, TLC decided to cancel “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” where Shannon appears with her family.
