Keep your hopes up, “Community” fans! The recently cancelled NBC “Community” series might still continue on for Season 6 with the help of Hulu. Read on to learn more about the latest update on the possible continuation of “Community” Season 6.

With only a few weeks since its permanent cancellation, The Hollywood Reporter (THR) shared the good news that Sony Pictures TV is in talks with the streaming service Hulu on the possibility that “Community” would stay for good.

According to Deadline, the streaming service would be a perfect home for the series. It has been airing several episodes of the series with an existing partnership with Sony Pictures Television. It was also said that the series has an off-network deal with Comedy Central.

A week after is cancellation, THR also talked with Sony Pictures Television co-president Jamie Erlicht who expressed his openness on having another season of “Community.”

“We, more than any other studios, fight for shows that we believe in. This show had a remarkable history,” said Erlicht in the THR interview.

“If there’s any show that should have a future or could have a future, it really feels like Community is the one,” Erlicht added.

On the other hand, Deadline posted about Dan Harmon’s reaction in his talk with Sony on finding a new home for the series. At first, Harmon shared on a lengthy blog post that he’s skeptical, but he assured that he “will not be the guy that recancels cancelled Community.”

Variety previously reported that NBC has officially cancelled the comedy series after Season 5. “Community” didn’t make the cut for the network’s renewal list despite having a cult following and a strong social media presence among fans. The said cancellation was made after its lackluster performance on its five season run since 2009. It was announced during the 2014 May Sweeps season.

There are still no other updates on the possible Hulu partnership, but the fans and the show remained faithful on the show’s on-going mantra “six seasons and a movie.” According to Hitfix, Harmon openly joked on his persistence on making it happen.

“If the movie has to be made out of clay and duct tape in my basement, then that’s how the movie will be made, because there has to be closure.” Harmon said in the Hitfix article.

“So it’s already over. Sometimes our hands are just tied up in fate,” he added.

Created by Dan Harmon, “Community” follows the story of a group of misfit students as they try to survive their daily college life at the Greendale Community College in Colorado. It stars Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Donald Glover, Ken Jeong, Chevy Chase and Jim Rash.

And that’s it for the latest update on the cancelled NBC “Community” series. Fans are still hoping against hope that it returns for Season 6 with Hulu.
