Now that we have had the trailer for “Captain America: Civil War” and the plot and official synopsis, one might wonder what remains now following all this? What remains is where Marvel is going to take its Cinematic Universe after the movie and what can we expect from Phase 3?
According to Den of Geek, fans got excited when Robert Downey Jr. joined the cast of the movie and excitement levels rose when Marvel and Sony decided to re-introduce Spider-Man in the MCU. With all that is going to take place in the movie including the major conflict and maybe the death of some, real question is what happens once the events of “Captain America: Civil War” are over? The media outlet believes it will set the Phase 3 in motion.
Our understanding is that most of the veteran Avengers that we have come to love until now won’t be seen in the MCU until Thanos comes knocking in with “Avengers: Infinity War.” Agreed, Avengers like Captain America and Iron Man will still make their presence felt by little cameos in other movies but the reason why we say that is because “Captain America: Civil War” will claim a few lives and that will affect the current roster of Avengers.
Apart from that, it won’t be that easy for Captain and Iron Man to work side by side after what they will be going through. If not tension then definitely there would be some awkwardness between the two. Here’s when Phase 3 will come in action.
Firstly there are many stand-alone movies planned in the phase, which means there will be newer heroes introduced in the MCU who will step up, fight and join the team. With a new Avengers team taking on the mad titan, Marvel will have multiple opportunities to further expand their universe by using these characters. Secondly, even if they choose to reshuffle some of their older characters, that will open quite a few prospects right there. For instance, Bucky Barnes could finally take on the mantle of Captain America, we could have a female Thor, Tony could choose a successor and other members like Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and Black Panther could form the rest of the team.
All of this is still far from happening but since “Avengers: Infinity War” is only two years away from release. It was even the executives at Marvel might want to introduce a new Avengers team who could fill in the shoes the current team has. In other news, Screen Rant added the new “Captain America: Civil War” magazine cover, which has Black Panther standing in between Captain and Iron Man. Looking at the picture, one could say this conflict is not going to go down easy and will be remembered and referenced in future movies to come. The movie will release next year on May 6th.
