Co-director Anthony Russo hints on the possibilities of what might happen on the upcoming “Captain America 3,” which is still due to release two years from now. Read on for further details.
“I can’t divulge who is going to be in the film, but I think fans are going to freak out when they hear about it,” teased Captain America co-director Anthony Russo on a conversation with Movies.com.
Russo might possibly be referring to Jeremey Renner’s character, Hawkeye, who is rumored to have an essential role for the upcoming film. Russo’s keeping his aces on his sleeve as he refused to spill out the names of who’s gonna be in the said pic.
“There are rumblings of Captain America 3. I don’t know what’s going to happen there. I’ve got to find the time, man,” said Renner in an interview with Collider.
Meanwhile, Russo hinted in his interview with MTV News that a satisfying storytelling has a beginning, middle and end.
The “Iron-Man” movie franchise that starred Robert Downey Jr. as genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist Tony Stark went on the same path, with its third film concluding the franchise. Does this mean that Cap will end off at the same route? Will he be passing on his mantle to someone else?
In the comic book, Steve Rogers gave up the mantle with his bestfriend, James “Bucky” Barnes, a.k.a Winter Soldier, and Sam Wilson, the Falcon, taking over his role as Captain America. “Captain America 3″ scribes, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, earlier cited these radical changes in Marvel’s continuity where they were asked in an interview with SFX if these recent changes might affect the upcoming project where they remarked that “it’s not quite time to start changing things up yet.”
On the other hand, Sebastian Stan, who portrayed Bucky in the “Captain America: The First Avenger” and later the Winter Soldier in “Captain America: Winter Soldier,” has signed up for nine more picture deals with Marvel Studios, and these might be the time for Stan to shine as the new Captain America.
Moreover, the Russos leaked out a bit of info to Movies.com confirming that the Winter Soldier might return for “Captain America’s” third installment.
“Thinking about where that relationship can go is a piece of the puzzle for us for sure – is he innocent by reason of insanity or the equivalent of it because he’s been mind controlled or is he irredeemable? Is he ever going to be acceptable to Cap again as the friend that he used to be before he was the Winter Soldier?” explained Anthony Russo in Movies.com.
We can only imagine how “Captain America 3” might go, but whatever it is, we’ll just have to find out for ourselves. “Captain America 3” is part of MCU’s phase three project along with “Ant-Man,” “Doctor Strange” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.” It will hit the theaters on May 6, 2016.
