‘Castle’ Recap: ‘The Last Seduction’

“Castle” Season 8 Episode 6 “The Last Seduction” aired on November 15, 2015 at 10:00 PM on ABC. In this episode, the entire team, with a little help from Alexis Castle (Molly C. Quinn) and Hayley Shipton (Toks Olagundoye), investigated a murder case involving high society women getting seduced by a con-artist. Meanwhile, Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion)  tried to figure out how he and Captain Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) could celebrate their anniversary while they were on a time out, and Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Detective Javier “Javi” Esposito (Jon Huertas) their best not to rip each other’s throats apart. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with a man getting stabbed at an apartment, while Detective Kevin Ryan (Seamus Dever) and Detective Javier “Javi” Esposito (Jon Huertas), during couples therapy, were advised to get someone to act as a sort of “buffer” between them as they couldn’t seem to work through their differences. Later, they got Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) to follow them around as their buffer in exchange for their help with distracting Captain Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) so that he could plant a wedding anniversary surprise in her office.

They then discovered that their victim, Scott McCoy (Moronai Kanekoa) had been stabbed nine times, and was an unemployed actor.

Back at the precinct, they brought in Anton Ford (Sheldon Bailey), whose prints were all over the apartment, only for Beckett and Ryan to learn that Anton and Scott had been friends, and that he had gotten paid by Scott to help him pick up rich and married women at bars.

Afterwards, Beckett was pleasantly surprised by Castle’s surprise, in which he asked her to have dinner with him as part of a “time out from their time out”, which she agreed to, even though Vikram Singh (Sunkrish Bala) was wary about it.

After tracing Scott’s financial records, they discovered the posh apartment where Scott usually brought his victims and where he took pictures of them together in order to blackmail them. While they were there, Castle began to suggest that the pair, instead of exchanging insults at each other, write everything down.

Thankfully, thanks to Anton’s description of the women that Scott had picked up, they were able to identify the women whom Scott had slept with as Annika Smythe (Anya Monzikova), Nancy Underwood (Andrea Roth), and Claire Stevens (Dawn Michaels), all who were good friends, and who had all been divorced by their husbands and had gotten nothing due to the infidelity clauses in their prenuptial agreements.

However, as their only clue to the killer was a photo of a dragonfly tattoo on one of the women’s backs, thanks to the fact that that was the last picture in Scott’s printer.

As Annika, Nancy and Claire were all going to the spa later that day, Beckett roped Hayley Shipton (Toks Olagundoye), who had been there to collect a stolen painting for a client), into going with her. However, Beckett was quickly recognized as Castle’s wife, and chased down Nancy, who admitted that she had confronted Scott after discovering that she had been tricked. However, Scott had apologized and told her that he had just had a change of heart due to his very last job.

After discovering that the husbands of Nancy, Claire and Anika all used the divorce attorney Lindsey Trent (Lindsay Price), they tried to get Castle to go undercover so that he could take a look at Lindsey’s client ledger, which would probably have proof that she had hired Scott to trick the women. However, he got found out right away, which allowed Alexis Castle (Molly C. Quinn) to sneak in as the mail lady, and was able to take pictures of the ledger while her father was being dragged out.

Later that night, Beckett’s and Castle’s dinner plans were interrupted after Ryan and Esposito began to fight anew.

This led Castle to talk to Ryan, while Beckett talked to Esposito, where they confirmed their suspicions that Esposito was still hurt over Ryan accidentally shooting him in the behind, while Ryan was still sore that Esposito had passed the sergeant’s exam and that he hadn’t.

Later, they discovered, thanks to Castle’s connections, that one of Lindsey’s clients, George Keller (Matthew Jaeger), had asked for help to go against his mother, Penelope Keller (Brynn Thayer), the owner of the Keller toy empire, as he had wanted her out of the way. However, they soon discovered that it was Lindsey who had killed Scott, as he was going to come clean, and she would have gotten arrested.

After being confronted by Esposito, she drew out a gun and tried to shoot him, but he was saved by Ryan, who only got knocked out, as Esposito had earlier placed his notebook in his breast pocket, which absorbed the bullet. Because of this the two reconciled.

Later that night, Beckett swung by Castle’s loft, and the two had a romantic anniversary evening together. However, as Beckett was getting changed, Castle saw Vikram’s text to her, which Beckett said wasn’t anything important.
